A Former Porn Performer Says: The Industry Doesn’t Care About Its Performers

Lacy writes me: Hi,I was an adult performer in the late nineties that went by the name of Amber. My agent was Jim South, and he referred to to work for some scumbags by the name of Max Hardcore, Rodney Moore, etc.

I worked with them, and for them. He then highly recommended that I work with a guy named Marc Wallice [pictured].

“He is a giant in our industry. He is the best of the best. You will be A-list after you work with this guy” is what I was told. Mind you, I was 18 years old, fresh off the bus, and wanted to be the next Jenna Jameson (I look back now, and am so glad I didn’t turn out to be anything like her).

I was “dating” Steve Austin (South’s little helper) at the time, and he reassured me that this would be the best thing I could do for myself and so-called career. I had a shoot scheduled with Mr. Wallice, and I don’t remember the company, just that it was run by an angry German lady.

On the day I was scheduled to shoot with him, I got horribly lost on the way there and ended up being over an hour late…which was not my norm.
When I got there, the angry German lady yelled and degraded me so much, I said “fuck you, I don’t need your money (I did), I don’t need your shit” (I didn’t) told her to fuck off, got my things and left.

I’m glad, that even after being subjected to some heinous shit, I still had the self respect to tell her to go fuck herself. Because if I didn’t, I would have HIV today. Literally, one day after that shoot I was supposed to do with Mr. Wallice, it was announced he had faked his HIV tests.

I don’t believe in God, but if there were ever a time I did, it was this day. I went and got a PCR-DNA test that day, which was not the norm back then, and had to wait 10 days to find out I was ok…the worst 10 days
of my life. Subsequently, I found out he had infected other performers before I was even scheduled to work with him.

This is what made me jump right the hell out of porn, and exile everyone that had anything to do with it. These people do not have your back. These people do not care about you. I’m am sickened when people in this industry say “oh, they messed with needles, oh, they fucked crossover performers, they deserved this”….I have done none of those things, but even if I did, I STILL DON’T DESERVE HIV!

I was simply young and naive, and trusted the absolute wrong people. Cameron Bay has handled this situation with absolute class, and I hope that she gets the help she not only needs, but deserves. The industry does not care about its performers, only the almighty dollar.

And btw, I’m married, and an RN now. I take care of people with AIDS/HIV, and I feel like I’m giving back, even if it’s just a little, in the
scheme of things. I just wanted to share this with you, because you seem to actually care about what is right.

P.S. I voted in favor of the condom law, because these little girls were just like me
