Adam & Eve Survey: “Great American Sex Survey” Reveals Average Age Americans Lose Virginity

Hillsborough, NC — How old is old enough? For the average American, it’s age 17 or 18!

We all want to know what’s going on in our neighbors’, friends’ and co-workers’ bedrooms, but most of us are too polite to ask. Well, Adam & Eve, the nation’s most respected name in adult entertainment, recently commissioned Cvent, the event management and web survey software company, to launch a sex survey determining Americans’ sexual practices, and the results are surprising.

“Based on everything we read, see and hear these days, we were expecting to find Americans admitting to losing their virginity at an earlier age,” says Katy Zvolerin, Adam & Eve Director of Public Relations. “The numbers hold firm, however. The average American male (over 31%) and female (30%) admit to having their first sexual experience at age 17 or 18.”

The survey revealed that 25% of males and 30% of females lost their virginity at 15 or 16 years of age, and 20% of males and 18% of females waited until they were 18 to 21.

Rounding out the survey were 14% of males and 13% of females who said they were 14 or younger their first time, while 7% of the males and females waited until they were older than 22.

The web-based survey, conducted by Cvent, of over 1000 American adults age 18 and up, was sponsored by Adam & Eve to study sexual preferences and practices. For more information about Adam & Eve, visit their website at www.adamandeve.com.
