Aly Sinclair: “I got it! Porn is the real problem in America”

Aly Sinclair writes on www.freespeechrevolution.com :

How could I be so blind? While bankers are using hedge funds and lobbyists to manipulate the economy for their benefit, our premier business like the automotive industry become further outdated and need revamping, our prosperous economy falters from lack of exports and growing businesses; American’s and their Courts choose to focus on porn and it’s “permissible”
content. It’s not any of the issues exemplified by the above companies like greed, envy, wrath and amassing a fortune at the expense of the public good that prosecutors choose to focus. Instead, it must be porn’s fault we, as a Nation, are in the position we are in today. Porn is at fault in the eyes zealots and opportunists alike for something I don’t even think prosecutors really understand.

But they are happy to have the chance to wield whatever power they have. It is their minority plan to use every means possible to hinder the production and distribution of what will be deemed “obscene” content. If you thought the economy was bad before now, wait until you see what happens after these foolhardy folks get their way. Porn makes up somewhere between $2.6 billion and 10 billion annually.” That revenue will move offshore should legislation continue.

Can you imagine going to a black market to get an Adult Video? It will happen if this continues.

Barry Goldman, of Jersey City, NJ, is our latest producer being made an example of by US Courts and the Federal Obscenity Task Force, created in 2005. Mr. Goldman’s websites, TorturePortal and MastersofPain, along with his DVD sales are under scrutiny for violating Obscenity Laws and the distribution of DVD’s to Federal Agents in NJ, Virginia and Montana. Not only is Mr. Goldman charged with breaking obscenity laws and distribution of said materials, he is in position to be made an example of to such an extent that his decision will impact how all porn should be judged nationwide hereafter. This is an important case that Free Speech protectors must win.

What one town, county, city or state, like NJ, Virginia or Montana may define as obscene, LA, NY or other metropolitan city’s might find tame. A jury of one’s peers is very subjective. And, New Jersey, while being more aware than most, is not on average qualified to be a judge on Porn’s interpretations. At the mercy of the uniformed and sheltered juries and overzealous prosecutors is not an enviable position for Mr. Goldman.
Hannan and Satterfield will take the lead in prosecuting Goldman’s case.

Why is there a need to have porn as a whipping post now, especially when America is in the financial and global positions we are in? Why do Senators, Congressmen, public figures and private citizens take such a hard stance on an industry that truly is above board in more respects than most respected private companies? We take the risks knowingly and try to provide material to the public that, by the revenue numbers, happily accepts. I truly fail to see the problem.

Credit card companies have been abusing citizens for decades with their high fees, penalties, increasing interest rates and the chance that one’s, more than ever so valuable, credit score will drop. For another example of abuse, let’s discuss the health care industry, and the utter lack of care, that bears their name. Like most Americans, their fees have raised on my insurance every half, consistently since 2003. As lucky as I am to have health insurance, major health care providers are more extreme and cruel than any counterpart performer or producer in the porn industry. Any performer can say “stop” at any time during a scene. Try to say “stop” to a bill collector or a rating change on your credit report. Not to mention the predatory lending schemes or the guy coming to foreclose the family home as one of the many insults we as American’s bear daily.

Of the prolific amount of hypocrisies dealt us as Americans is that many of these companies depended on the goodwill of the common man and government to keep them out of insolvency. Yet few will make an effort to bear a bit of the burden now that their pressure has been relieved. Nor will these same companies share that same compassion or forward thinking with their consumer when times are better. Instead, rates continually rise.

In an effort to impart balance between business and his citizens, President Obama initiated terms for a “Consumer Financial Protection Agency” which would have the power to observe and regulate financial institutions. To this end, David Hirschmann, head of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Center for Capital Markets Competitiveness states,

“This new agency would have sweeping powers to regulate over 45 industries and add yet another layer of government bureaucracy to an already disjointed and dysfunctional system.”

We have trusted men and women of government and business with our well being and livelihoods. And, only on maintaining their income is what they choose to focus at our time of need. Don’t fall prey to the drama of the bread and circus they present against Porn. Please understand Big Business and Government have no intention of looking out in your best interest as doing so deflates their lobbyist donations. Remember this is the same group that brought you the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act of 1933, which opens “up the market among banking companies, securities companies and insurance companies. The Glass-Steagall Act prohibited any one institution from acting as any combination of an investment bank, a commercial bank and/or an insurance company.” I have my real estate license and I can tell you this repeal was a treasonous act by lobbyists and the public figures they support at your expense. How do you feel about giving these same people the chance to sanitize your sexual interests?

Please think of adding this career instability and fervent prosecution to an already tumultuous American Life. Sure, we as American’s, have a good life compared to many a country. And, I can say I am very lucky to be doing porn. These are reasons why I love what we have and value it. To this end, it galls me that there are insidious people in government who intend to make sure that their morality intermixes with law. Make no mistake, Puritan ethics, sheltered opinions, and lobbyist agendas all now supersede your interests as a citizen. Is the prosecution of Mr Goldman, Max Hardcore, John Stagliano and others really necessary?

A quote from Mr. John Stagliano to this end states, “The charges are real and something bad could happen. But I look at the world with wonder and amusement, especially when it comes to the government. I am hoping this will result in a bump in sales for the films. It is all films I distribute and not a single one I directed. I wish my ‘Fashionistas’ had been chosen.
The films are hard, but I have real artistic ambition. I wonder how closely they watched? I am surprised the government, with the war and the economy, has time for this.”

To those who choose to condemn, report as offensive, or take a legal path against porn though obscenity charges, please take heed that you are hurting your own. Legislature and big business really don’t care about the interests of those who enjoy porn. This is an instance of catering to the lowest common denominator being those who refuse to take responsibility for their and their families home by watching what comes in carefully.
Because these parents lack the intelligence to mind their own families, please do not try to invade mine under the guise of protection of public good. If prosecutors or porn are so concerned with the good of all, please focus their attention on those companies who rob families blind with bad business practice. I hope you will help us do so by writing speaking up when issues such as this arise and stomping out the misguided judgements.
We producers and performers will try to ease your burden along the way any way we can.
