Robin Leach reports on www.lasvegassun.com –

Porn princess Sunset Thomas is a member of the Adult Video Hall of Fame with 205 movies to her credit. A Las Vegas resident, she has appeared on numerous Maury Povich and Montel Williams TV episodes as an expert of her industry. She had her own syndicated radio show and has written “Anatomy of an Adult Film,” her first erotic fiction novel.

Who better then to take a tour of the 15th annual Adult Entertainment Expo, which opened Wednesday at the Hard Rock Hotel. Some 30,000 fans and adult-industry filmmakers are here through the 30th anniversary AVN Awards on Saturday, with 4,000 in the audience at The Joint for “The Oscars of Porn.”

AVN officials tell me that media from all around the world have asked for credentials to cover the red carpet, so many in fact that a dedicated security team will be on hand to manage the double from last year media attendance. The red carpet hosts for later broadcast are Chanel Preston, Kirsten Price and Evan Stone, with roving correspondents Misty Stone and Alexis Texas.

Adult superstars Asa Akira and Jesse Jane, joined by musical guest hip-hop sensation Tyga, host the awards. Our interview with Asa was posted Tuesday and Jesse on Wednesday.

Here is Sunset’s report with a YouTube feature from contributing videographer Richard Corey:

“When you tour AEE and people know you’re writing a story for Robin Leach and Vegas DeLuxe, the sea spreads faster than an adult star’s legs! I was Lois Lane for a day on this planet at an event we call the Adult Entertainment Expo at the Hard Rock Hotel, and, boy howdy, did the stars oblige.

“Jesse Jane and Kayden Kross, two of the hottest femmes in our industry, were eager to share. Lisa Ann, perhaps the most sought-after all-around performer, was all hugs and modest hubris. Producer-director John Stagliano promised to stick around another 30 years, while the young and lithe Heather Starlet was just downright rarin’ to go.

“While Second Amendment fretting seems all the rage, I often fear my chosen profession’s First Amendment rights — I’m telling you that the freak flag flies, unfettered, at this annual Valhalla in Vegas shindig.

“To walk the many rooms that host this fab, fan-friendly flesh emporium is to be hit by sights of sensuality in the extreme. The booths are exciting, sometimes fairly explicit, but the real draw of them all is the girls (and the guys, too), the real people who make up our industry. There they are in the skimpiest of outfits — fantasies realized — there to touch and talk to and pose with.

“It’s like walking into Madame Tussauds, but the only wax involved is Brazilian. You’ll come across toys and lubes, videos and films. It’s a true cornucopia of adult utopia, something that shouldn’t be missed by aficionados or the curious.

“I was especially impressed by the loveliness of this year’s crop of kittens — girls next door, fetish favorites and the legends — whether you want to meet MILFs like Kelly Madison or newbies like Anna Foxxx or Cassandra Nix, stars such as Asa Akira or Alexis Ford. The studs are in attendance, too: Nick Manning, Lexington Steele. Foreign frolickers like Aletta Ocean and Carla Cox. Perhaps you’d like to meet the stars of the moment — Samantha Saint or Allie Haze.

“Of course, I’m at this year’s event signing 8x10s at the AVN booth for Chicken Ranch Brothel (ChickenRanchBrothel.com), but, on this day, I was honored to a part of the Fourth Estate, and it was flattering to be part of the press rather than the barely dressed, although I’ll admit that I’m most comfortable with something other than a pen in my hand.

“Tod Hunter, a writer/raconteur, reckoned this would be the best show ever, while Bill Margold reminded me of the sidecar event, the Legends of Erotica Hall of Fame induction that takes place annually at Showgirl Video. I was inducted in 2009, and this year’s class of sass includes Rebecca Bardoux, Nikki Charm, Bob Chinn, Ron Hightower, Alexandra Silk and Elizabeth Starr.

“Of course parties are aplenty at almost every property on The Strip, including strip clubs, each and every evening.

“Wandering the halls and buzzing the honeycomb of booths brought me to Tinisha of Injoyus. They sell a toy that I can’t put into words, or Robin will delete them. I didn’t see the real James Deen, but his cardboard cutout was there, ahem, stiff as a board.

“I’m happy that we’ve moved from the conventional convention center to the Hard Rock because you can hit the tables or the bars and mingle with your favorite stars. It’s so much more a real Las Vegas experience when gaming and libations are part of the situation.

“I’m still in a bit of shock that Robin didn’t leave his nest and join in the shenanigans, but he’s rue to blush, and I’m one happy little horn dog because he allowed me to tour it on his behalf. The bottom line is you’ll be in a daze if you show up and press the flesh with the best our industry has to offer.

“I’m planning on walking this year’s red carpet for the awards Saturday night with Las Vegas’ quintessential drag queen, Jimmy Emerson. I hope to see you there!”
