from www.pcmag.com – Google’s glasses-camera demo was but a few minutes old when Twitter started buzzing with the obvious question: Will they be used for porn?

It’s Rule 34 of the Internet, of course: if it exists, there will be porn of it. But the idea of heads-up glasses is especially porny, as tech-friendly adult firm Pink Visual spokesman Quentin Boyer pointed out.

“The style of porn known as ‘point of view’ (‘POV’ for short) has been a popular type of content for quite a while now. Obviously, a device that allows you to shoot high quality video in a truly hands-free fashion will make shooting POV porn that much easier,” he mused in an email.

Pink Visual isn’t at Google I/O right now, so it won’t be in the first batch to get a pair of glasses. At this point, Google is only allowing I/O attendees to pre-order them for $1,500. However, Pink Visual hopes to get a pair “sooner rather than later” and is already brainstorming ways to use them to enhance its traditional porn products, Boyer said.

“To really know their full potential, we’ll need to get a pair to play around with, but we’re already dreaming up ways to use the glasses to get shots (sex-related and otherwise) that just aren’t feasible using a traditional camera setup,” he said.

Glass may be $1,500, but the point here isn’t to create porn for consumption with Glass – it’s to use the glasses to create porn anyone can watch.

Pink distributes its Android apps through a popular alternative app store called MiKandi, and MiKandi does indeed have reps at I/O, which means they’ll be getting a pair of glasses. In an email conversation, the company seemed more focused on ways to use the glasses to enhance other “intimate” applications.

They don’t see much of an immediate use for the glasses in porn, but a spokesman said they’re intrigued about it for dating apps.

“A wearable computer such as Glass can provide a wealth of useful information and interaction during a date. For instance, when looking at a wine list, it might find an old tweet from your partner praising a particular wine,” the spokesman said in an email.

Whatever the pornographers decide to do with Glass, it’ll be a while before we see these sorts of things start to pop up. Google I/O attendees will be getting their glasses in early 2013, and it’ll be at least 2014 before this kind of technology hits the market, Google’s Sergey Brin told Bloomberg today.

New ideas may appear between now and then, the MiKandi spokesman noted.

“Glass provides us with a fascinating and very forward looking piece of technology which, hopefully, will spark even more good ideas when the actual hardware is available for experimentation,” he said.

from www.pocket-lint.com – US Porn studio, Pink Visual, has said that it is keen to get its hands on Google’s new Project Glass Project, believing it perfect for the porn industry.

“The style of porn known as ‘point of view’ (‘POV’ for short) has been a popular type of content for quite a while now. Obviously, a device that allows you to shoot high quality video in a truly hands-free fashion will make shooting POV porn that much easier,” Pink Visual spokesman Quentin Boyer pointed out to PCmag.com.

The move, something that Google probably wasn’t hoping for with their demos of cute family videos and pictures at Google I/O, shows some of the possible seedier sides of wearing a pair of glasses that can also be a video camera.

“To really know their full potential, we’ll need to get a pair to play around with, but we’re already dreaming up ways to use the glasses to get shots (sex-related and otherwise) that just aren’t feasible using a traditional camera setup,” he said.

No doubt other porn studios and movie studios are closely looking at the technology and the quality of the footage. We’ll let you imagine the number of scenarios whereby having a camera on your face would work better than a big video camera. In an interview about 3D in 2011 with the porn industry, many directors and producers told Pocket-lint that it didn’t like filming in 3D because of the big bulky 3D cameras that were available at the time. Wearing something on an actors face solves that problem.

Google demoed the new glasses at the company’s developer event in San Francisco by throwing some people out of a plane while they were having a Google hangout video call. With the glasses the audience was able to see first hand what the sky divers were seeing.

Although the Google Project Glass glasses aren’t expected to be available to the public until 2014 at the earliest, Google is offering the 6,000 developers attending the conference in the US the chance to pre-order the first prototype pairs for testing. The glasses will cost $1,500 and be “rough around the edges” according to Google co-founder Sergey Brin.

Expect your porn to get a lot more in your face in the years ahead.
