MAYS LANDING – from www.pressofatatlanticcity.com – The woman allegedly hired to seduce and help take down an Atlantic City councilman is expected to take the stand Tuesday against three of the men charged with carrying out the scheme.
David and Ronald Callaway along with Floyd Tally are accused of helping set up Councilman Eugene Robinson, taping him in a sex act with a prostitute and then using the tape in a failed attempt to get him to resign.
Before Tuesday, Kristyn Haino has just been the dark-haired girl with a digitally blurred face on a video tape. She is shown taking cash from the councilman, and later performing oral sex on him.
Now, she is expected to tell the tale behind the tape.
The story includes Tally hiring her to get Robinson back to a motel room, hand her cash to look like he was paying her, then giving him oral sex and getting him to look straight at a clock on the nightstand, which is where a camera was apparently hidden, according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor James McClain’s opening statements to the jury.
Unlike what was stated in a letter that accompanied the video, Haino was not 16 when she had the brief tryst with Robinson. She was 24 with a 2-year-old daughter, and a heroin habit she financed through sexual favors, according to an April 18, 2007, interview with investigators.
The trial began Thursday, after nearly seven days of jury selection. It is expected to last about two weeks, and will include testimony from Robinson, who suffers from diabetic neuropathy and will need medical assistance nearby in the courtroom, according to earlier discussions in the case.
