from www.sfgate.com – A 22-year-old female teacher in Wall has been charged with having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old male student.
A complaint filed against high school English teacher Kalee Warnick accuses her of aggravated criminal sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child.
Warnick, who also worked as summer home instructor, was arrested July 30 and released after posting $50,000 bail.
Monmouth County prosecutors would not provide further details.
The teacher’s attorney, Alton Kenney, tells The Associated Press she will plead not guilty “because she is, in fact, not guilty.” He says he expects her to be exonerated and return to work as a teacher.
Attorney James Maggs, who is assisting the boy’s family, says he has gone through a “horrible ordeal.”
Warnick is due in court Aug. 6.
from www.wall.patch.com – A 22 year old Wall Township woman was charged this week with aggravated criminal sexual contact with a student, county prosecutor’s records show.
Kalee Warnick, of the Deer Run section of Wall, is currently listed on the Wall Township Schools website as a teacher in the English Department. The district did not confirm her status at this time.
According to police documents, Warnick allegedly had an improper relationship with a 15 year old male student that included sexual contact. The warrant does not go into further detail about the nature of the incident.
The complaint, out of Wall Township, charges Warnick with aggravated criminal sexual contact, a third degree crime, and one count of having a sexual relationship with a minor she had responsibility of the care of, which is a second degree crime.
The incident was reported to Wall Police on July 14, according to the court documents.
Warnick works as an English teacher for the high school, and at the May school board meeting she was one of four teachers approved for summer in-home instruction for a student at a rate of $52 an hour for 10 hours.
Warnick was charged July 30 and $50,000 bail was set. The next court appearance is scheduled for 8 a.m. Aug. 6.
