Back story – A West Texas high school teacher has been charged with having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a 14-year-old student.
KLBK reports that Morgan Marricle, 26, a freshman English teacher at Muleshoe High School in Muleshoe, has been charged with a sexual offense by the Bailey County District Attorney’s Office.
KAMR reports that police received a report of ”an improper relationship, including touching and texting in a sexual manner, between Marricle and a fourteen year old student.”
Although Marricle has not been arrested, charges are expected to be filed before a grand jury in June.
Locals say that rumors of an illicit relationship between Marricle and the child have been circulating around Muleshoe, a town of 5,100 residents located about 68 miles (109 km) northwest of Lubbock, for some time.
“That teacher was a big old flirt. You could tell she was a big flirt,” Muleshoe High School sophomore Manuel Ronquillo told KLBK. “I think it’s been going on for a while, to tell you the truth.”
