FORT MYERS — www.naplesnews.com – Adult-film star Jazella Moore’s highly anticipated appearance at Escapades Gentlemen’s Club in Fort Myers on Wednesday night wasn’t a colossal bust – but it was a “C” cup at the bare minimum.

Less than 100 people – including other exotic dancers, bouncers and bar staff, were on hand for a three-song set with a decidedly patriotic theme that began at 11:20 p.m. and lasted for about 15 minutes.

Moore, whose real name is Anabela Mota Janke, gained national prominence in July when her occupation came to light and her husband, former Fort Myers Beach Town Manager Scott Janke, was terminated from his job by a unanimous vote of the town council.

About an hour before his wife took the stage, Scott Janke ducked outside for a cigarette and expressed disappointment with the undersized crowd.

“There’s no one here,” he lamented, then quickly added that he wasn’t interested in being interviewed.

“This is my wife’s night,” he said. “I’m just a normal husband tonight who’s here supporting his wife.”

The Jankes held a press conference earlier in the day in Escapades’ “Champagne Room,” perhaps explaining his reluctance to answer any further questions.

Dressed in a purple, military-style uniform, a sailor’s cap, white stockings with lace trim and knee-high, lace-up platform shoes, Moore took to the stage holding an American flag as Lee Greenwood’s “Proud To Be An American” played over the club’s sound system.

With the heavy smell of cigar smoke hanging in the air, a slight smile played across her lips as she solemnly pivoted from north to west to south to east, affording everyone in the club a good look at the woman who went on to do the national talk-show circuit with her husband following his firing.

Minutes later, Moore’s stiff demeanor loosened up considerably as the thundering drumbeat of Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the U.S.A.” blasted over the speakers. Off came the sailor’s cap, followed by her belt. Slinking around the pole in the center of the stage, she seductively unbuttoned her uniform to reveal white undergarments and grinned as a patron “made it rain” by tossing about 100 $1 bills into the air.

Wedding ring sparkling in the bright overhead lights while her husband recorded the performance on a flip-cam video recorder over in the corner, Moore then removed her bra to reveal gold, star-shaped pasties.

The third song of Moore’s brief set – Mariah Carey’s “A Hero Comes Along” – saw her peel a lace garter from her thigh and toss it into the crowd, a move that drew raucous applause from the appreciative crowd.

As the final song of her set gradually wound down, several dancers and a few patrons approached to reward Moore’s performance with a few more singles.

Following her performance, Moore made herself available for photographs at a table where she was also selling her DVDs and magazine spreads.

Steve Nelson, editor of Adult Industry News, broke the initial story that eventually led to such a firestorm of controversy in July.

The Simi Valley, Calif., resident said he met Moore via e-mail before she married Janke, and subsequently facilitated the process of obtaining roles for her in the adult-film industry.

“At first, I thought Scott was going to kick my ass,” Nelson recounted of breaking the story. “But then I think he was grateful that they were outed with respect and dignity.”

At least one exotic dancer wasn’t grateful about the presence of the press Wednesday night, saying it kept patrons away.

“I should smack the (expletive) out of you,” she told a reporter while smoking a cigarette and grinding on a customer at the bar. “You guys are (expletive) up our business. “

Escapades General Manager Tony Oikion said the club kicked around the idea of hosting Moore during a management meeting after the story of her occupation broke.

“We’re excited to have her,” Oikion said, noting the club has hosted such adult-film stars as “Bridget the Midget” and Ron Jeremy in the past. “It’s going to be a good draw, and I expect to have a sellout crowd over the weekend.”

Moore is scheduled to perform at Escapades from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
