Kurt Lockwood: Day in the Life of a Porn Star II

Back story: www.adultfyi.com/read.php?ID=59008

Kurt Lockwood writes on www.ditypaper.com – So when we left off last week, we were shooting the “sex stills” before we started shooting video of the actual sex scene.

This is where I am finally allowed to sexually touch the female model without breaking accepted adult-industry decorum, which usually dictates that you wait until this moment.

Here is where I earn my money, because as an adult male porn star, you are given very little time to “snap to attention” down below; you are pretty much expected to be ready to rock within a minute or so, and no matter how long you may have been sitting waiting to do your part (sometimes hours and hours and hours), when the production is ready for you, you’d better be ready. Once that magic happens and the sex stills get rolling, inevitably, comes the point of the first penetration. Before I enter her, I always look in her eyes and ask, “Ready?”

I do this for a few reasons: I want to put my scene partner at ease, I want her to know that even though I have every intention of pounding her into orgasmic, sexual oblivion, she is ultimately in control, and by asking her permission before I enter her, this lets her know that I care about her well-being in this scene. I want her to have a good time and know that she can trust me. So once I am given “all systems go” by my scene partner? Heaven. I look at my job like this: I am paid to put up with all the crap that comes with being an adult-film star, but the sex? I do that for free because I love it.

So after we have taken pictures of all the sex positions, including faking the end “pop” (you’d be amazed at how much Cetaphil looks exactly like semen when dribbled on a girl’s various naked parts), it’s on to shoot the “Pick-Up” or the “Set-Up,” that short, corny little plot-lite that happens before most porn scenes. After shooting the setup, which usually takes about 15-20 minutes depending on how long it takes for the girl to get her lines right, then it’s time to make the doughnuts, then it’s time for the sex stuff, the real scene.

Adult companies have done market research and found that the average pornsumer, yep, pornsumer, only likes sex scenes to be about 35 minutes in length, so that’s what we shoot.

Sex scenes today are generally done in one long take because the directors don’t like to cut as they feel that it is hotter if the viewer can stay with the action the entire time. Then, in front of a whole crew consisting of a director, a couple of lighting guys, a couple of camera guys (including 3-D cameras!), maybe a sound guy, makeup artists, and a P.A. just off set to hand us performers our water, condoms, paper towels, wet wipes, and lube, the girl and I do the dirty.

We usually run through a pretty formulaic series of sex positions—formulaic because that is the easiest, most common-sense order to shoot in: kissing, cunnilingus, fellatio. Then for the actual fucking it’s “reverse is first,” as I like to say. “Reverse Cowgirl,” or the girl on top with her back to the guy who is lying down, is first because it is the hardest on the girl who has to bounce, so it’s best to get it out of the way while the female model still has energy and is not yet “dick drunk” as we call it in the Jizz Biz; that is the point where she is “fucked out,” exhausted, and essentially done. Then we transition to “Regular Cowgirl,” then doggy style (which doesn’t really need explanation here, does it?), then “spoon,” where we are lying next to each other, one in front of the other on our sides.

Generally we wrap up with good ol’ vanilla “missionary” position. Why? Because it’s the easiest for the girl to drop to her knees for the end of the scene, when we shoot what we call “the Pop,” when I ejaculate on the girl’s face to climax the scene. This is my favorite position. I know it’s very vanilla and what most people do in their own non-porn private lives but to me, it’s still the best.

I love to deep French kiss during sex, and this is the best facilitator of that. Plus, by this point, at the end of the scene, the director usually has all of the footage that he needs so I, as a performer, am able to cheat a little bit, which means not concentrating so much on opening up so much space for the camera, which isn’t as comfortable as it looks, and actually get myself into some physically and mentally pleasant headspace to “work up the pop” so that we may finish the scene. You will note there are no “fluffers” mentioned and we don’t refer to the pop as the “Money Shot,” both of which are misconceptions about the adult business.

After the pop, the stills photographer guy rushes back in to snap a few pics. The P.A. then rushes in with wet wipes and paper towels for obvious purposes for the girl in the scene and that’s when I make a beeline right for the shower. Within 20 minutes after that, I am scrubbed clean, getting paid, kissing the girl goodbye, and thanking her for a great scene and agreeing to tag each other on Twitter with set pics later.

A day or so after that, I do it all over again with a new girl and new production company.

And the beat goes on. . .
