NWA’s DJ YELLA SHOOTS FOR ELEGANT ANGEL: “REAL-2-REEL”

(CHATSWORTH,CA) — DJ Yella, one of the original founding members of the infamous rap/hip-hop group “NWA”, has just finished shooting and editing his first film for Elegant Angel Productions called “DJ Yella’s Real-2-Reel”. Yella, who has been shooting adult movies for years under a pseudonym (“Tha Kidd”), has recently started shooting films using his “N.W.A” moniker. Engaged in a partnership with his former bodyguard, Big Man, the duo has shot over 250 films since the beginning of their adult careers in 1994. Their first company was called Lo-Key Productions.
DJ Yella first gained fame through his musical work with Eazy-E, Dr. Dre, and Ice Cube, the original members of NWA “Niggas with Attitude”) . Prior to the release of their first record, hip-hop was bouncy dance music, with lyrics that no one took seriously. N.W.A. changed all that with their hardcore, gutsy lyrics. They reported the news to the hood. They were the CNN to the street crowd. And it came across in their music. “N.W.A.” were making history with their music as they rapped about drugs, women, sex, murder, and people were listening. They were rapping about the things their listeners actually cared about. They were speaking from their own experiences growing up in Compton. Yella was also one of the original members, but didn’t sing or play any instruments, as he was more involved in producing. He liked putting things together, which gives him an easy eye for porn. He also writes and performs all of the music in this video, so for fans of NWA, this is a double treat.

“DJ Yella’s Real-2-Reel” is a film that allows viewers to spend a day in the life with the famous producer as he rides around and coaxes girls to get “freaky” for him. From the subway trains in Los Angeles, to the streets of downtown LA, DJ hooks up with some of the prettiest and nastiest talent that has ever been seen in ethnic movies.

“We just like givin’ people what they want” said Biggman. Lot’s of pretty girls, great sex, and good music. Yella does not perform in his movies, but does all of the camerawork and editing himself. At one point, we jumped on the blue line train because we saw a pretty girl. We talked to her, and she allowed us to film her. She ended up to be a closet freak and we got some great shit with her.” Yella has very strong opinions about the way porn is often made, and his dissatisfaction with what he sees definitely influences the way he directs. Yella says what he likes about porn…. “I like them to be real – like this could happen.” He prefers his women “natural, not in high heels and stockings.” Yella adds, “We are taking it from “Real” life to the “Reel”, which is what makes it good. We are keepin’ it real.”

On working with Elegant Angel, DJ Yella says he is very excited about the endless amount of opportunities the company has to offer.

“I would rather do a few good quality films, instead of the same old stuff. This project was a lot of fun. I’m shocked at how interested this company is….they actually watch the films and are interested in it. I’m looking forward to doing more with them.”

Yella and Big Man will begin shooting the second installment of “Real-2-Reel” soon, with the first in the series to be in stores by May 6, 2003.
