Jetton to take grand jury stand, Wednesday in Sex Biz Probe

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Former Missouri House Speaker Rod Jetton plans to defend himself before a federal grand jury investigating his handling of legislation.
Jetton says he will testify before the grand jury Wednesday in Kansas City and is happy to try to answer questions about a 2005 bill that would have imposed regulations on sexually oriented businesses.
State Sen. Matt Bartle testified last month before the grand jury. He told reporters that he believes there was a link between a $35,000 contribution by the porn industry to a political committee and the demise of his legislation.
Jetton referred Bartle's bill to a House committee whose chairman was opposed to it. A similar bill did eventually pass that year but was struck down in court for technical reasons.
