Sean Awards the Stories of the Week: Japanese Porn Industry, Michael Weinstein, GirlsDoPorn.com and Two Dopes Walk Into a Bar….

Sean writes – We don’t make the news, we just exploit it.

The Figures Lie and Liars Figure award goes to the Japanese adult video industry.

In a documentary titled ‘The Other Side of the Sex’ it was reported that the industry employs 10,000 actresses, releases 4,500 titles monthly, and generates 55 billion yen in annual sales.

Those are pretty impressive figures until one digs a little deeper.

The first number that jumped off the page is the employment of 10,000 actresses. That seems a bit high considering that the population of Japan is two-thirds smaller than the United States. At its peak, AIM tested between 1,000 and 2,000 performers monthly that lived in the Los Angeles area. Considering the population difference of the two countries that would mean that there are about 28,000 porn actresses spread over the rest of the United States.

Even at its height of popularity, even when compilation videos where included, the American porn industry was releasing between 8,000 and 12,000 new titles a year. Yet this documentary makes the claim that Japan releases 54,000 titles a year. I’ll be nice and say that sure sounds like an ambitious number while others would claim that number is a load of crap.

Whenever I see the word ‘billion’ I naturally assume that’s a lot. When I read that the Japanese adult video industry brings in 55 billion yen in annual sales I have to admit I was impressed. This is until I converted yen into US dollars.

Using some quick calculations those 55 billion yen breaks down to a cool $573 million dollars: that’s nothing to sneeze at too be sure. That is until you divide that number by titles released. So not figuring in costs, the average Japanese title brings in a whopping $10,600 each.

So, in summation, class, the Japanese adult video is in no better shape than ours. In fact, it’s probably worse.

David Linville of Phoenix holds the distinction of being this week’s multi-award winner.

This menace to society captures both the Creep of the Week and one of two Dopes of the Week awards.

His Dope award results from his arrest after he admitted to hiding a video camera on a woman’s second-story balcony to record the interior of her apartment.

Officers reviewed the tape and said they discovered Linville had recorded his distinctive shoes while setting up the camera. The victim recognized the footwear as belonging to a nearby resident of the complex.

His Creep award comes about because at the time of his arrest, a search warrant was served to gather computers, recording and storage devices. After analysis of this creep’s computers police found several videos of the suspect engaging in sex acts with various women. Detectives said, given some of the conduct seen on the videos, they did not believe the women were aware of the recordings.

Police identified three of six women, who confirmed they did not know they were being recorded. One of the victims was 15 years old. Three of the women have yet to be identified and detectives believe one or more of them is also underage.

Detectives said they also found numerous images of child pornography involving children under the age of 12.

This jerk now faces 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and two counts of surreptitious recording.

The other Dope of the Week award goes to Jeanette Ellis of South Carolina.

This enterprising lady found 12 VHS porn tapes and figured to flip a fast profit by going door-to-door offering to sell them for $5 each. A neighbor complained to police and Ellis was arrested for nonlicensed solicitation.

Maybe next time she should do better by offering blowjobs. Therefore if police arrive she could just swallow the profits.

The Mata Hari Glass Houses award goes to GirlsDoPorn.com.

This outfit recently outed former Miss Delaware Teen USA Melissa King, whom it was recently discovered had once filmed a triple X scene for this site. The company went so far as to release a clip of King saying her name and agreeing to the terms of her contract on video.

They really nailed her. But as the saying goes, sometimes you’re the nail and sometimes you’re the hammer.

And here comes the hammer…This company that outed Melissa King, in fact, has connections to drug money laundering, illegal arms smuggling, and massive Russian tax fraud.

The Hypocrite award goes to the AIDS Healthcare Foundation and its President Michael Weinstein [pictured].

The story is familiar: AHS has filed complaints with Cal-OSHA claiming that treasureislandmedia.com is endangering the health of its actors by shooting bareback gay porn videos.

AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s Michael Weinstein, a fierce proponent of condom usage in porn and the leading force behind ongoing efforts to make condom use mandatory in California porn, owns and operates nearly two dozen “Out of the Closet” stores, including the recently opened Wilton Manors, Florida location.

In addition to used clothes and furniture, this store is also home to an ‘AHF Pharmacy.’ Also available at Michael Weinstein’s thrift store? Used bareback porn.

Gee, now what kind of example is Weinstein trying to set by doing that?
