Joe Theismann would have said [and did say on many occasions] that this was a game which could have gone either way. But the equivocal quote of the season so far goes to Steelers safety Ryan Clark who said the Steelers were better 1-0 without safety Troy Polamalu than 0-1 without him. That’s because Polamalu left after the first half with a knee injury, his third in the last four seasons. But from a defense standpoint, the time Polamalu was in there was a thing of beauty to watch.
The Vegas bookies also have to know something. They had Pittsburgh by six and the Over/Under at 30. Not that it matters in the pool’s win-lose scheme, but it gave most of the AdultFYI’ers unblemished records by selecting Pittsburgh. However that will change this Sunday. A quick look at the picks shows this will be a sink or swim week. If there’s a bunch of upsets, and there usually are in these too-obvious “lock” situations, look for all of us at the bottom of the lake come Monday.
