This month is for all the marbles with eight members of the AdultFYI football pool left to duke it out. There are four NFL wildcard playoff games this weekend with the Jets at Cincinnati and Philadelphia again at Dallas on Saturday; Green Bay plays Arizona at Arizona Sunday with Baltimore visiting New England.
For the first time in the playoffs you have four teams playing one another in back-to-back weekends. The Eagles got creamed by Dallas last week, 24-0 and Cincinnati bent over and let the Jets have their way with them, 37-0. My strategy is simply it can’t happen two weeks in a row. At least in the case of the Bengals. That’s why I’m picking Cincinnati with the home field advantage. Just that simple.
The Eagles are a different story. With relatively no pressure on him last week, since they had already clinched a playoff spot, Donovan McNabb looked bad. This week it’s do or die and back in Dallas. Had this game been in Philadelphia, I might have looked at it differently. I’ve always been an Eagles fan but you gotta see reality for what it is- McNabb can’t dance when the prom music starts playing. Dallas gets a jump like they did last week, it’s all over. Maybe Andy Reid will be smart enough to yank him early if things look bad but I doubt it because Tubby’s a do or die McNabb man.
New England’s been there before and because of The Ravens meager performance last week, you gotta go with The Pats although Ray Lewis tried to stir up some controversy in a game that appears to be the one lock. Green Bay at Arizona? The The Cardinals had no business being in the playoffs let alone the Super Bowl last year and I can only hope the law of averages makes up for that in this game.
