Two Texas universities win .xxx domain disputes

from www.domainnamewire.com – Triple-X domains to be transferred to Texas universities in two separate arbitration proceedings.

Two Texas universities have won arbitration disputes over the new .xxx domain names.

The University of Texas System won a case for UTsystem.xxx and Baylor University won a case for BaylorGirls.xxx.

Both organizations filed their complaints with the National Arbitration Forum.

UTSystem.xxx got the attention of The University in part thanks to the domain owner forwarding the domain to Sex.com. According to the complaint, the respondent demanded $20,000 for the domain name and said he would forward it to adult content if the price was not met.

The respondent made an interesting argument: since The University of Texas has nothing to do with adult entertainment, how could there be any confusion between it and the domain name?

Needless to say, he was unconvincing.

The registrant of BaylorGirls.xxx did not respond to the arbitration proceeding.
