Robin Leach reports on www.lasvegassun.com – Three hundred XXX porn starlets balanced on the most preposterous of high heels, bared their busts and butts, flashed their flesh and strutted their stuff in slit and sky-high short skirts in the annual carnival of red carpet carnal charms at Saturday’s 30th anniversary AVN Awards.

That was the official parade of pulchritude into the media room at the Hard Rock Hotel, which was jammed with Showtime TV cameras, photographers, reporters and videographers from all over the world. Another hallway overflowed, too.

Some 300 blonde and brunette bombshells never made it inside. They had to be content with tottering on outrageous steel-spiked stilettos into The Joint for the awards hosted by Jesse Jane and Asa Akira, who scooped up the most awards. AVN unveiled a gold statue for the winners of a man embracing a woman shaped in an Oscar statue pose.

The Hard Rock’s halls were a voyeur’s dream come true. Girls were there in all shapes and sizes, ages and experience (newbies and veterans). They spilled out of stockings and burst out of bras — if they were wearing them. This was a designer’s deliberate wardrobe malfunction even before it happened, and nobody cared.

Fans were jammed two deep on both sides of every corridor that led from all over the Hard Rock to The Joint. If an alien had landed, his first stop would’ve been to ask our Convention and Visitors Authority: “So it’s true what you say about Vegas — a one-party-happening town with thousands of sexy girls?!”

With the AVN cast of thousands, it could’ve become a new Las Vegas commercial: “What Happens in Vegas Only Happens in Vegas.” It was the annual sea of sexiness that couldn’t take place anywhere else in the world.

The three-hour awards, which ended at 12:15 a.m. [Sunday morning], capped four days of the 15th Adult Entertainment Expo, with exhibit booths dedicated to film, fetish fashions, toys, sex furniture and items so outrageous that I can’t note them in this report. Frankly, I couldn’t even fathom some of them myself.

Our thanks to contributing photographer Scott Harrison and videographer Richard Corey for their coverage. Even my trusty digital camera came in useful for photos (check back for those).

Everybody agreed that the most elegant and gorgeous duo were porn princesses Taylor Wayne and Jessica Jaymes. Riley Steele won fan awards for Favorite Porn Star and Favorite Body. Controversial headline-maker Nadya “Octomom” Suleman didn’t show as promised, but she won for Best Celebrity Sex Tape.

In all, there were 144 awards, 18 of which were presented at the awards. Asa Akira cleaned up for Female Performer of the Year, Best D.P. Sex Scene, Best Group Sex Scene, Best POV Sex Scene, Best Star Showcase and Best Three-Way. Her boyfriend, Spanish actor-director Toni Ribas, was on hand to congratulate her amid rumors of a Las Vegas wedding before they leave town.

Actor James Deen, who wouldn’t talk with me about rumors of a liaison with Lindsay Lohan, won Male Performer of the Year and Crossover Star of the Year. He wouldn’t talk to the audience, either, because of nerves; he made his acceptance speech with a drink in one hand, a cigarette in the other and with his back to the crowd facing the hosts.

X-rated rap video maker Tyga performed twice, comedienne April Macie got all the laughs, and one performer who entertained at the awards, which was recorded for future broadcast on Showtime, represented Cirque du Soleil’s “Zumanity” at New York-New York.

We’ll post our star video interviews later, and Monday the surprising possibility that if Measure B (requiring condoms) passes and is enforced in California, then the multibillion-dollar industry could move here. Las Vegas city officials are said to be in favor of that mega-bucks business relocating here, according to many in the adult film and video industry.

Las Vegas-based Brazzers won for Best Membership Site. Porn actress and Las Vegas resident Teagan Presley’s moviemaker husband Joshua told me that he’s been in City Hall meetings for serious discussions. He said he would shoot 24 XXX productions a year here if filming gets a Nevada green light after the L.A. County rules are enforced.
