Adam Wilcox posts at www.xxxwasteland.wordpress.com – Bonnie Rotten is perhaps adult’s primary example that people appreciate variety. The tattoo-laden newcomer began her industry journey on the alternative/fetish side of erotic entertainment earlier this year and has since garnered the admiration of tens of thousands of fans.

Bonnie’s popularity and nonconforming good looks have caught the attention of leading producers in the adult genre. The 19-year-old recently began filming a series for Brazzers titled “ Bonnie and Xander” alongside male star Xander Corvus (the Part One trailer is available here) and New Sensations/Digital Sin cast Rotten in her own feature film, Meet Bonnie, which was released this past September.

Bonnie broke down a huge barrier facing many performers adorned with skin art when she was selected to serve as trophy girl for the 2013 AVN Awards ceremony, which takes place this January in Las Vegas. Additionally, Rotten has been nominated for Best New Starlet and received several XBIZ Award nods.

Bonnie kindly spoke with XXX Wasteland on the afternoon of December 13 to discuss her career in adult thus far, plans for the future, her upcoming role as AVN trophy girl and much more.

Q: The first thing I’d like to ask about is your being selected to act an official trophy girl for next month’s AVN Awards show. How did it feel to be chosen for that position?

Well, I’m super excited because it’s awesome to be recognized in an industry that is so full. There are so many girls, and to be in seven months and be prospering and doing as well as I’m doing, to be recognized is just a great honor. To be heavily tattooed and in this industry is not that easy, that’s for sure.

Q: Absolutely. I heard AVN was doing a casting call-type-of-thing to select this year’s trophy girls. Is that how you were chosen?

Actually, they were doing a thing on Twitter – a send-in-your-picture-to-be-a-trophy-girl thing and they chose me. They said that it was a unanimous, hands-down decision, that it was super-easy for me to be chosen. So, I was like, “Hell, yeah. That’s awesome.”

Q: You have several XBIZ Award nominations as well, in addition to a huge nom for AVN Best New Starlet. How does it feel to have all that recognition in such a short period of time?

I’m stoked. I’m so stoked. I am so thankful and so happy to have all of the opportunities that I have. I can’t wait for more. I’m ready for 2013, for sure.

Basically, what happened was I came out here to California and I modeled for Girls & Corpses magazine. I got my eye on the fetish world – I went to a dungeon party at Dungeoncorps. I was like, “What is this? This shit’s crazy – I love it!” So, I got kind of interested and spread my wings and started doing fetish modeling. Then, I moved into submissive work and then learning my dominant side, and here I am – a quick transition! (Laughs)

Q: Yeah. You mentioned the transition from alternative or fetish modeling to a more traditional side of the adult industry. Do you think this is a sign that the alt side of the business is becoming more accepted?

I think so. I really do, because there are quite a few tattooed girls out there now and even the girls who have been around for five years or so are getting tattooed. It’s just becoming more acceptable and more okay.

I like it, though. I love seeing it because it’s so different. Instead of girls just getting a tramp stamp or a butterfly or whatever, I’ve actually seen girls getting some awesome artwork – it’s refreshing. (Laughs)

Q: Yes. I’m sure we’ve all heard stories about tattooed performers not getting as much work as those without tattoos and certain companies who may not wish to hire them. But I think the fact that you have received all of this acceptance and recognition from the traditional side of adult – especially being named a trophy girl for the biggest show of the year – is a positive sign. Do you think that is sort of breaking down some walls?

I think it’s breaking down some big walls – definitely making an impression.

Q: Can you tell us about some of your tattoos that are most important to you and the meaning behind them?

Most of my tattoos are actually horror-related. I have Friday the 13th – a reference to Camp Blood on my second knuckles. I have 1428 – the address to the house on Nightmare on Elm Street. I have the Leatherface III: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre cover on my left arm – it’s Leatherface, the shadow and it says, “The saw is family.” My stomach is a giant zombie from Night of the Living Dead: The Beginning comic issue #1; so, that was a big one – it was my first tattoo. It took 14 hours and it is always going to be my favorite.

Q: That’s very cool. I’m a huge horror buff myself and those are some of my favorite horror films.

Awesome – you’re a horror fan. Good to know.

Q: Yeah – that’s pretty much all I watch. (Laughs)

What’s your favorite horror movie?

Q: The Nightmare on Elm Street series is my favorite.

Dream Warriors is my favorite. (Laughs)

Q: Yeah. I think it’s because the old school Freddy Krueger is actually a horror character who is scary and can give you the creeps – or me, anyway. (Laughs)

Yeah – Robert Englund, he does that well. He does some justice to that. I just love Eighties effects and the CGI back then. It’s so much cooler than the effects now. I think everything is just overdone now and just too much.

Q: Yeah, for sure. Earlier in the year, you had your own feature film from Digital Sin titled Meet Bonnie. Can you tell us a little bit about that release?

Yeah. I came in – I think I was two or three months in, I had done like four scenes – and I went in to New Sensations. I shot one scene and Scott (Taylor) had me come in – the owner – and he said that he wanted to do a whole showcase of me. I said, “That’s awesome – I’d be honored.” So, I took that privilege and me and Eddie (Powell) went in and handpicked the scenes and we made sure the chemistry was perfect. He did some amazing editing on that and I was really blown away when I first saw it. It was amazing.

Q: And it spent some time – and still could be – on the AVN Top 10 chart, is that right?

It’s Top 40 because it’s been on the charts for like five weeks now. But it was Top 10 for like three weeks. Tattooed Anal Sluts is up there, too.

Q: From Evil Angel?

Yeah. I did two scenes in that movie. That was my first anal scene, too – Mike Adriano. (Laughs)

Q:(Laughs) Yeah.

He put strawberries and whipped cream up my ass. (Laughs) That was interesting. That was a fun day.

Q:(Laughs) Do you have any specific aspirations in mind for your career looking down the road?

Actually, I’ve been writing scripts and kind of filing them for the year 2013 – get everything sorted out and get it moving. With all of the things going on with the industry here in the Valley, you have to make sure you are doing all of your investments properly, you know?

Q: Yeah. Before you entered adult, did you have any misconceptions about the industry that you have discovered to be untrue now that you are a part of it?

In the beginning, I felt like it was going to be a huge challenge. I saw all these girls with big boobs and blonde hair and I was just like, “Man, that’s never going to be me,” and I was always that person kind of trying to find a way to fit in. I’ve always known, but really figured out this year that you don’t need to fit in. People are looking for something different – be yourself. So, I’ve just been myself and it’s played out just great. I’m not conforming to the agency thing, I’m not conforming to shooting thirty scenes a month, I’m not conforming to all of the other stuff that people are conforming to. (Laughs)

Q: Right. On the flip side, are there any preconceived notions from others outside the industry that bother you?

That goes back to the whole condom thing. I think a lot of people don’t realize how clean (the business is) and how much we care about ourselves and our work and our business. This isn’t just a big fuckfest – this is actually a career. I think people need to realize that and that we take it seriously and that it’s a job just like anyone else’s. It’s not all partying. I go to bed at eleven o’clock and wake up at 8 a.m., you know? I work out my body, I keep in shape. There’s always a reason.

Q: For sure. May I ask a few questions about yourself as a person if that’s okay?

Of course!

Q: Great. Can you tell us a little bit about where you were raised and how you would describe yourself growing up?

I was raised in Cincinnati, technically, but where I’m from is called Hamilton, Ohio – it’s about forty-five minutes North of Cincinnati. It’s a suburb area.

I grew up with my grandparents, moved out at an early age and been kind of wild from 13 – I lost my virginity at 13 and started dancing four days after I turned 18. (Laughs) Actually, it was May 13 – Friday the 13th.

Q: Oh, wow. (Laughs)

Yep. (Laughs)

Q: That’s actually something many people may not know – that you are very young. You’re 19, is that right?

Yeah, I’m 19. I turned 19 in May.

Q: How about interests and hobbies away from work?

Well, I just started doing CrossFit – that’s awesome. I love hiking, I love horror movies, I like traveling. I’m an avid fan of racing and dirt racing like sprint cars and NASCAR. And pole dancing, actually – I’m a really fantastic pole dancer. I go to a pole gym and work out all the time.

Q: How about favorites – you mentioned earlier about being a big horror fan, but what about favorite T.V. shows, musicians and things like that?

30 Rock – I love Alec Baldwin. (Laughs) 30 Rock, South Park and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Those are my three, for sure.

My favorite musicians … it’s funny because I have multiple sides to my musical taste. So, I can like psychobilly like Nekromantix, Deadbolt, Demented Are Go, Mad Sin. But then I like stoner metal like Electric Wizard, Boris and stuff like that. (Laughs) But also, I’m super into really ghetto rap music like Young Jeezy, Waka and 2 Chainz. It’s a funny range. (Laughs)

Q: Very cool. How about current or upcoming projects – is there anything you would like to put out there?

I’m doing something extremely epic next week for New Sensations, so look out for that! (Laughs) AVN will be covering that, so that will be a big deal.

Brazzers and I are working on this Bonnie and Clyde-inspired series with me and Xander (Corvus). Part One is about to be released. The trailer is up – it’s really awesome; if you haven’t seen it yet, you should go and check it out.

I’m opening a webcam site – BeRotten.com. I’ve just got a bunch of stuff going on! (Laughs)

q: (Laughs) Awesome. In closing, is there anything you wish to say to readers?

If you ain’t sinnin’, you ain’t winnin’.

q:(Laughs) That’s a good line.

(Laughs) It’s on my foot.

q: Very cool. I want to thank you for taking some time to speak with me today and congratulations on everything you have accomplished thus far in your career. I think you have made a lot of strides on behalf of tattooed performers and I wish you the best going forward. Have a great day.

Thank you so much. You have a great day, too!
