Adam wilcox posts on www.xxxwasteland.wordpress.com – Adult newcomer Teal Conrad has made a significant splash in the XXX world since her industry debut this past March. The 19-year-old Oregon native is currently contracted to the Manwin-owned Babes.com website and achieved an early career milestone when Twistys selected her as its August Treat of the Month.

Despite her young age, Conrad has already lived a full life pre-porn. The budding brunette starlet was a fitness model prior to discovering erotic entertainment, exhibiting products for companies such as Nike and Oakley. Additionally, Conrad is a former Zumba instructor and accomplished snowboarder.

Teal kindly spoke with XXX Wasteland on the afternoon of August 4 to discuss her rising career in the adult industry, the passion and enthusiasm she has discovered for her new profession, appearing in R & B singer Brian McKnight’s recently released “YouPorn.com Anthem” music video, her aspirations in the XXX field and much more.

You can follow Teal on Twitter at @TConradX, visit her FreeOnes page here and find her on Verified Call.

Teal Conrad is represented by L.A. Direct Models. For feature dance bookings, please contact The Lee Network. Interview requests and other media inquiries may be directed to Rising Star PR.

Q: First off, I’d like to congratulate you on being named Twistys Treat of the Month for August.

Aw, thank you.

Q: How did it feel when you found out you had been selected?

You know, I’m very excited. It’s honoring. It’s a great start to my career. I didn’t know I would be able to be Twistys Treat of the Month with only one video and one picture out, but being young and only having that, it’s an honor, an achievement – it makes me want to keep producing more work for my fans. My fanbase is now growing, too.

Q: Can you tell us how you entered the adult industry initially?

Yeah. I used to be a fitness model. I grew up in Oregon and I was doing a lot of Nike and fitness lifestyle stuff. I came down to L.A. to do Oakley and I discovered porn.

So, I decided to masturbate on camera and pose nude. I have a great agent and being young and able to do this stuff is just … I do it because I love it. I don’t do it for the money. I discovered it and I really enjoy it, and I’m the happiest I’ve been in about three years.

Q: Very nice. And how long have you been in the business?

I was modeling for about two years in mainstream, and then in March I switched to porn after I did Oakley in L.A.

Q: You mentioned being a fitness model. Do you find that background gives you any sort of advantage in adult work from having that experience being photographed?

I would say being comfortable around the camera, yes, but it’s a completely different type of modeling. I found that I was modeling a product and now I model myself, and that’s something that I’m starting to overcome and get over. But it was hard at first because when you are modeling a product, you’re making sure the product looks good on you and the way that you are presenting it versus the way your body looks and how you are posed. And running for pictures is a lot different than fingering yourself, having sex on camera, or whatever it may be. It’s completely different.

But I think that being comfortable around the camera, it does help. But otherwise, I’m training myself for something completely different.

Q: Right. And you are currently under contract to the Babes.com website, is that right?

Yeah, I’m currently contracted with them and I do exclusively boy/girl and girl/girl for them. And that’s just for a couple more months or so. We’ll see. But I’m exclusive to them and there aren’t many contracted girls to Babes. It’s a brand new site that Twistys just launched.

Babes is very sensual, romantic – it’s not like hardcore sex or anything. It’s more like lovemaking and it’s for couples. And it will probably be on Pay-Per-View from what I understand.

Q: Excellent. And you are permitted within your contract to do some outside work as well, is that correct?

Yeah. I can do solo, softcore and photo stills – magazine print work or solo masturbation work like Twistys. I can do all that for any company I would like. That is just until my contract is up.

Q: During your time in the industry thus far, who have been some of your favorite studios and talent to work with?

Definitely Twistys. Tammy Sands, Holly Randall – excellent photographers. They are just very sweet, the set is very professional.

I had a really good shoot for Babes which will be coming out in the next couple of weeks that was shot by Jay Allan. He’s a character, I love him. He’s great. He shot that and Danny Mountain was the talent. Danny Mountain and I are good friends and it’s going to be a great scene. So, I would say that’s probably my favorite.

My first shoot was for FTV Girls. I’m not really into the amateur stuff even though I’m young, but being naked in public like that was just such a thrill. It was my first time having a shoot and they flew me to Arizona. I’m 18 years old flying to this state shooting. I loved that thrill. That’s when I really was like, “Wow, this is fun. I want to shoot some other kind of stuff.” And then I started doing the glamour.

I’ve enjoyed all of the stuff that I’ve shot, but I would say Twistys and Babes are definitely my favorites.

Q: Are there any companies or performers you wish to work with down the road?

Yes and no. I’ve shot with the talent that I have wanted to work with. I would like to do some more stuff for Twistys and Babes as well.

Wicked Pictures is one of my favorite companies. I shot a scene with them … I wanted to shoot a scene when I was 18 years old, but I didn’t want it to come out right away. So, Wicked actually said that they would shoot a scene when I was 18 and they would hold on to it for me.

And, as you know, Wicked is a condom-only company, which I think is very classy. I think I want to do more work with them just because there aren’t a lot of companies out there who are sticking with the traditional contract girls, condoms and that kind of stuff. Vivid got rid of their contract girls and I just feel that Wicked is an excellent company and I want to do more work with them.

Q: Do you have any specific aspirations in mind for your career or perhaps a visual of where you see yourself ten years from now?

Ten years from now … wow – 29. (Laughs) You know, I don’t know yet. I’m so new – I really didn’t start shooting anything until May and we just reached August.

I think that I can make a career out of (adult) if I stay the way I am: professional with it and I continue to enjoy it, which I do. I think I could make a career out of it. I’m too new to tell where I see myself.

Q: Right. Did you have any preconceived ideas about the adult industry that you have discovered to be untrue now that you are actually a part of it?

Totally – tons. I actually was like, “No sex until marriage.” “Porn is a horrible thing.” ”Porn is gross, trashy.” All this stuff. There still are companies that are that way, but for me, I won’t shoot that kind of stuff. But all I’ve noticed in what I have shot is very professional, excellent people to work with, a good, safe environment – completely opposite of what (many people) make the adult industry sound like.

The “real world,” I would say, thinks of porn what everyone says about it. And you know, we get tested every two weeks. There is so much that goes on that makes it different than what (many people perceive). So, I think that yeah, it’s completely different than what I thought.

Q: Is there a misconception about the adult business by people outside the industry that particularly bothers you?

Yeah. I would say my mother is a great example. I grew up in a great family and I was raised very well. And I don’t do porn for the money. I do it because I love it and I really wish my mom would understand.

I have lost friends, I have made friends, I have had old friends come talk to me. I think it depends on the person if they are going to judge you or not.

But I think it’s different – if you are doing something you love, I think it should be okay. I’m not getting hurt, I’m not doing anything I don’t want to do. I’ll walk off set if I don’t feel comfortable with something. I’m open-minded and I’m able to stand up for myself and I think that’s why I’m a good fit for the industry. There aren’t a lot of women out there who can stand up for themselves when they don’t want to do something or they feel like they have to.

I want my stuff to be natural, classy and healthy-looking. That’s what I want my porn to be.

Q: I understand you recently auditioned for the lead role in Vivid’s remake of Behind the Green Door ?

Yes, I did.

Q: How did that go?

It went well, but I don’t think I’m what they are looking for. I don’t do anal and I don’t do interracial. I also don’t know when they want to start shooting and I’m still under contract. But it’s definitely a good experience and a good thing to go to those auditions, especially since my agent’s office is in the same building as Vivid.

I would like to work with Vivid as well – excellent company. I just don’t think I was the right pick for that. But it would definitely be fun to work with them.

Q: You appeared in the music video for Brian McKnight’s single “YouPorn.com Anthem” as well, is that right?

Yes, I did. (Laughs) That was a blast.

Q: Can you tell us about that?

Yeah. They got 15 porn stars – which I don’t consider myself a star, I’m a porn “girl.” But they got 15 porn stars, including Alexis Texas, Monique Alexander, Alexa Nicole, Christie Stevens, Taylor Wane – there were a ton of us. And we all went up to Brian McKnight’s house and shot this music video.

None of the girls had listened to the song before, so when we’re driving to set, I pull up the song and we’re laughing so hard. They’re saying, “Head on over to YouPorn” – the site, YouPorn.com – and we were just howling, we thought it was so funny.

So, we go and shoot this music video and we had just listened to the song, and Brian McKnight had his friends there and 5 Cent, and we just had a blast shooting it. I’m the youngest one there – of course – so I wasn’t able to do the Rated R version, but I would definitely like to do more music videos.

We had a good time, you know? It wasn’t like work, exactly. I don’t think anything I do in this industry is necessarily work, even though I come home really tired. When you do something you love, it’s work, but it’s enjoyable to where it doesn’t seem hard, even though I know it’s very hard work, if that makes sense.

Q: Absolutely.

It’s a little confusing. People just say how easy it is to stand by a camera, but when you are getting directed and you have to sit there and have that flash go on … you know, you’re tired at the end of the day. Being in the sun for the music video was tiring.

Q: For sure. It’s something a lot of people don’t understand.

No, definitely. I’m sure you know, but it’s hard.

Q: Yeah, definitely. May I ask you a few questions about yourself as a person?

Oh, yeah, of course.

Q: Thank you. Can you tell us where you were raised and how you would describe yourself growing up?

I was born and raised just outside of Portland, Oregon in a town called Lake Oswego. I grew up on a farm with seven-and-a-half acres. I have two older brothers that are half-brothers and live about two hours south of where I grew up. I saw them a lot, I would say. My family is all very close around where I grew up.

It’s unfortunate, but I grew up being the girl who was always getting whatever I wanted and that’s not what I wanted to be seen as. So, I think that when I started modeling doing Nike and stuff, I was like, “I’ve finally become really independent.”

I graduated high school a year early – I had a great GPA. I taught Zumba fitness – I was the youngest Zumba instructor in the world when I was 17.

I travelled growing up, I have a great family. Of course, they don’t want me doing porn, but I think once they understand and more of my content comes out they can understand a little better that I’m not just getting fucked on camera – I mean, I will, but it’s not like I’m hurting myself and I’m doing what I love. The money is great and the independence I’m able to have at such a young age is amazing, but I feel like people would never guess that I was doing porn.

I think the place that I grew up, it’s definitely not appropriate and it’s just like the biggest deal in the world that I’m in porn to the people that I grew up with. (Laughs) So, if that makes sense – I grew up in a very nice, ritzy area. And now that I can have my own independence at just turning 19 … it feels good. I feel like I have a career already. But it doesn’t last forever, so I do save my money. (Laughs)

Q: Nice. How about interests and hobbies away from work?

I’m a snowboarder. I was a snowboarder in high school – the only girl on the high school snowboard team for a couple of years. I got first in State and third in Nationals.

Q: Oh, wow.

Yeah. I like to play tennis, go hiking.

I was a bad kid, too. I never took “No” for an answer. (Laughs) I got sent to a wilderness therapy program in Arizona and I spent 42 days in the wilderness.

I think when I came out of there, I straightened up a little bit. I don’t know how to describe it. I really started to grow up after that. I had all F’s and D’s my freshman year of high school, but then junior year I was on the honor roll. So, obviously this program did something for me.

Q: Very nice. How about favorites – favorite movie, T.V. shows, musical artists, etc.?

Well, I don’t really watch T.V. (Laughs) The occasional news – I’ll pull that up when I’m eating my breakfast or something.

Movies, I love The Hangover and I love Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

And music, I like electronic music and I like rap. I like to say I like the Top 40 because usually on my Sirius XM I’m listening to Howard Stern or In Bed With Jessica Drake on the Playboy Radio channel. Or hip-hop or electronic music. It’s just that Sirius XM offers so much – it’s like the Top 40. But I’m not picky with music. I like everything.

Q: Very cool. Is there one thing about yourself that you feel would surprise most people?

Well, I’m starting to advertise that I can queef on command. (Laughs) FTV shows that I can queef. That’s a skill, I guess. I’ve tried to teach a couple of girls how to do it here in the porn industry, but … I don’t know. Every girl can do it – you just have to practice. But that’s a little unusual.

I’m a bit of a tomboy. My name … teal is my favorite color and has been since like sixth grade. And Conrad, I just like that name for a boy. I was like, “Well, I’m tomboyish. I’m a tomboy. I dress like a lady, but I’m such a tomboy.” I mean, I drive a sports car and my bed looks like a princess bed. I was just telling somebody that it’s like completely different. But I think a lot of people wouldn’t realize by my glamour stuff they see how much of a tomboy I can be.

Q: I think your stage name is a great one because it’s unique and really stands out to people when they read it.

Oh, yeah. No one’s name is Teal. I wanted to change my name and I’m glad I didn’t. I’m starting to accept Teal more than ever before. And I love it.

Q: Are there any current or upcoming projects in the works that you would like to mention?

I’m really looking forward to the content I shot for Babes to come out. One comes out by the end of this month. I’m very busy with that and I’ll be appearing at Exxxotica in New Jersey in November.

I’m doing a solo for Fleshlight this month. I didn’t know that they had a solo site, so I’m not sure if they are starting something new. I need to do a little bit more research on it. But I will be masturbating for Fleshlight. Other than that, I’ve been really busy with my contract.

Q: I understand that Verified Call also recently added you to their roster of girls.

Yes. I was really surprised that I was able to do that being so new, but I’m starting to figure out how it works. I get some calls here and there. I don’t have a big fan base, but it’s growing. Verified Call is a great thing for girls in the industry to use. I like it. I’ve never experienced something like that. It comes straight to my cell phone for people that know my number. And it’s cool to talk to your fans; I love talking with my fans.

Q: Awesome. To finish up, is there anything else you wish to say to readers?

Well, I hope that you all enjoy the content that I recently shot. I hope it comes out soon. I shot a Mofos solo that hasn’t come out yet and I’d like to see that. I shot for People magazine in Australia.

I hope that I can continue to please all the people out there and look forward to working with more companies as my career goes. And I want to thank all of my fans for helping me become who I am today.

Q: Terrific. Thank you for speaking with me today, it has been fantastic to chat with you. You have accomplished a lot thus far and I’m sure we will be hearing a lot more about you. I wish you continued success.

Thank you very much.
