Opening Statements Presented in Ira Isaacs Trial

LOS ANGELES (AP) – A federal prosecutor has told a jury that a Los Angeles businessman should be convicted under U.S. obscenity laws because the pornographic movies he distributes are offensive and extreme.

Opening statements were presented Wednesday in the trial of Ira Isaacs, who was indicted on charges including importation or transportation of obscene material for sale.

The jury is scheduled to view the movies, which depict bestiality and various fetishes.

Defense attorney Roger Jon Diamond [pictured] says he plans to call a psychiatrist to testify that up to 10% of people are interested in the types of fetishes depicted, and that the films do have value in society.
