San Francisco – from www.nbcbayarea.com – Rumors hit the local blogosphere Monday that Disney was looking at leasing a warehouse at 16th and Folsom.

“I think they were drawn by the hip, cool, artistic vibe of the Mission,” a realtor told SF Weekly. Because when you think of the teflon-coated Jonas Brothers, the first words that spring to mind are “hip, cool, and artistic.” They should fit right in amongst the hipsters.

But even if they did move in, what on Earth would Disney do with the property? Once a Hershey-owned chocolate factory, the city-block-sized warehouses might make good soundstages. Or maybe Disney just wants to get into the chocolate business.

It’s certainly not a neck of the woods that would lend itself to a retail outlet. With virtually no foot traffic, it’s the sort of neighborhood that exists as a corridor for people passing through on their way to someplace else. But that’s exactly what a high-profile production studio would want: something unobtrusive and inconspicuous that wouldn’t attract a crowd.

Disney wouldn’t be the first to produce content in the neighborhood. Just down the street is the Armory, where Kink.com shoots bondage porn. Is some sort of partnership in the works? We’re going to guess the answer is no, but we’re going to hope the answer is yes.
