New York- They don’t need supermarket tabloids at the Union Square Whole Foods. One shopper says her checkout counter scrap with Parker Posey was more shocking than anything in the Star or The Enquirer.
NBC technical engineer Theresa Reed has told police that when she encountered Posey at the grocery Thursday, the actress was every bit as shrewish as the character she plays in Off-Broadway’s “Hurlyburly.” Reed tells us she was approaching the register when Posey cut in front of her.
“She steps on my foot and leans her body into mine,” claims Reed. “I said, ‘Miss, can you please get off of me?'”
Reed says Parker huffed sarcastically, “Sorry my bag touched yours.”
Reed, who recalls Posey’s hair being “all matted,” replied: “Miss, I don’t want you on my body. You look dirty and you smell bad.”
Walking away from the confrontation, Reed says she headed to a refrigerator to get some juice. That’s when, she says, Posey’s male companion snuck up and shoved her into the juice case. Posey’s friend, “who stank too,” then “ran back to [Posey] like a little girl,” Reed says.
Reed says she immediately reported the incident to a cop outside. Reed says she didn’t recognize the actress Time once dubbed “Queen of the Indies” until Posey told the officer, “I’m Parker Posey and I’m in a show!”
A rep for Posey, who had her run-in about an hour before she was due to join Ethan Hawke onstage, was unavailable for comment. A Whole Foods manager declined to comment.
