Louisiana- A 55-year-old Chalmette man booked Monday with oral sexual battery and molestation of his 16-year-old adopted teenage son was booked Thursday with 221 counts of child pornography based on images found on compact discs seized along with five computers in his apartment, St. Bernard Parish sheriff’s officials said.
All of the images of sexual activity appear to be from the Internet, and there is no evidence that the boys and girls in the photos are local children, authorities said.
The man, whose name isn’t being used to protect the identity of his son, was jailed in lieu of $125,000 bond after his Monday arrest.
Bond is expected to be significantly raised after the latest charges.
The 221 photos of youths believed to be under legal age were found on nine of the more than 100 compact discs seized, according to Capt. Darlene Poche, head of the sheriff’s juvenile division. The rest of the discs remain to be checked, she said .
Officials with DePaul-Tulane Behavioral Health Center and the Office of Community Services called sheriff’s officials Monday to report the allegations from the 16-year-old, who was admitted to DePaul Hospital last month, authorities said.
The teen told officials his father forced him to perform oral sex and other sex acts. He also told officials his father forced him to view sexually explicit images of underage men engaged in sex acts with other young men.
Based on the information relayed from the hospital and state officials, detectives obtained a search warrant for the man’s apartment on De La Ronde Drive, according to Maj. John Doran, chief of detectives.
The victim’s 14-year-old brother, who also lives with the father, was booked with obstructing detectives by trying to erase some of the images from the computers, Doran said. He was placed in state custody.
Because of the volume of material on the computers, the FBI child pornography unit will assist sheriff’s officials next week in reviewing the remainder of the CDs to compare them with databases of known victims, sheriff’s officials said.
