STAUNTON, Virginia — An adult-business owner charged with felony obscenity charges turned himself in on Monday.
Rick Krial, owner of After Hours Video, appeared at the city sheriff’s office about 10 a.m., said Sheriff Alex Caldwell.
Krial opened the adult business on Springhill Road in October. On Nov. 1, a grand jury charged Krial with eight felony and four misdemeanor obscenity charges. His company, LSP of Virginia LLC, also was indicted on obscenity charges.
Caldwell said he received word on Friday from an attorney who said that Krial would turn himself in. After being served the indictment, Krial was processed, taken before a magistrate and was released on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond, said Caldwell. Krial will be required to appear at 9 a.m. on Nov. 14, he said.
The purpose of the hearing will be to inform Krial of his right to an attorney, Caldwell said. If an attorney representing Krial calls the court before the trial date, Krial might not have to appear at that time, he said.
Krial said he will not comment further until after the trial.
