Al Capone Died of Syphilis

Porn Valley- Sean at Porn Legends, www.pornlegends.com writes: In response to the government considering mandating the use of condoms during filming of X-rated productions, Kat Sunlove, executive director of the Free Speech Coalition was quoted as saying, “Do we really want condom police?” she asked. “We’ve had two, count them two, positives [HIV test] in five years.” Now it’s three, count them three, positive HIV tests and the real possibility of more to come. How many more do you need?

Ira Levine, head of AIM’s Board of Directors, said in a prepared statement at last week’s AIM press conference; “No additonal transmissions of HIV from these cases are expected, either in the adult performer talent pool or in the community at large.” Mr. Levine, concerning your resignation letter, it should be typed in double-space. It is easier to read that way. Please pass along the suggestion to Sharon Mitchell, if you would as well.

In regards to Jessica Dee’s HIV treatment; “she’s been counseled,” said Ms. Mitchell. “No one is very happy about getting HIV (understatement of the year), but she’s taking to counseling very well and she is already on anti-retroviral therapy – early HIV meds.”

Jessica Dee is 26 years old. The other two HIV infected actors are young people as well. There is no cure for HIV. Who is going to pay for their treatments FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES? Sure wish there was a workman’s compensation or liability attorney that would want to look into this. Sure would be interesting to know how this would effect a 9 BILLION-DOLLAR per year industry.

Over the entire history of the adult film industry, federal, state, and local governments have been prosecuting adult filmmakers on obscenity charges. More times than not, the various government bodies have failed in their attempts in getting the convictions upheld on appeal in higher courts.

The Free Speech Provisions of the Constitution of the United States have always been a solid fallback for the industry. In light of this, notorious gangster Al Capone never spent one day in jail on crimes directly associated with organized crime. The government finally nailed him on tax evasion. Is the government making an “end-run” on the industry disguising it as a health issue? Who knows. Oh, and by the way, when Al Capone died, he had syphilis.
