WWW- What has happened to troubled starlet Natasha Lyonne?

Recent postings on Gawker.com’s Gawker Stalker feature paint a disturbing picture of the 27-year-old actress, known for her performances in “American Pie” and “Kate and Leopold.”

The Web site posted alarming alleged sightings of Lyonne, who reportedly checked herself into rehab in Malibu a few months ago, back home in Manhattan and “looking like she is in a drug-induced coma,” “covered in some sort of bad red rash,” and “like she could die any minute.”

But her father, radio host Aaron Braunstein, insists she’s clean and sober.

“Natasha is safe and sound in California, working on her role in ‘Clara Bow,'” Braunstein E-mailed Lowdown. “Her sightings in N.Y. by Gawker people is a lie, and if Mel Sachs and our [lawyers] find out who is spreading these vicious lies, they will be dealt with legally, in an ugly, expensive matter.”

Attorney Sachs confirmed he’s been contacted by Lyonne’s family for representation, but didn’t elaborate. Attempts to reach Lyonne were unsuccessful.

But it’s true she’s had her share of problems, including an arrest in Miami five years ago for driving under the influence, a December 2004 arrest for allegedly threatening a neighbor, and reportedly a bout with hepatitis C that put her in Beth Israel Hospital last year.

But Braunstein told Lowdown that he saw her a week ago. “She gave me a beautiful Father’s Day gift – a kiss, a big hug and a cup of Starbucks coffee. She’s doing much better.”

Asked if she’d been in rehab while in California, Braunstein answered, “No comment.”

As for her professional life, Braunstein declared: “Natasha is probably going to be starring as Clara Bow, the first ‘It Girl.’ We’re talking Oscar.”
