Choreographer Shane Sparks, who was a judge on MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew,’ was ordered today to stand trial on eight sex-related counts involving an underage girl in the 1990s.
Van Nuys Superior Court Judge Jessica Silvers found sufficient evidence to require Sparks — whose full name is Melvin Shane Sparks — to proceed to trial on six counts of lewd act on a child and two counts of oral copulation of a person under 16.
The criminal complaint, filed in December, alleged that the crimes occurred between July 1994 and April 1997.
Sparks, now 41, was arrested Dec. 18 at his Studio City home and released the following day on bail.
He is due back in Van Nuys Superior Court for arraignment Nov. 15.
