from www.nydailynews.com – Attorney General Andrew Cuomo’s campaign to scrub social networking sites clean of child porn is gaining steam.
He announced Tuesday that he has enlisted blogging site LiveJournal and photo site Fotolog to use a database that blocks online attempts to share images of children being sexually abused.
Facebook, MySpace, Friendster and other popular sites had already agreed to use Cuomo’s so-called “hash value database” to identify kiddie porn through numerical fingerprints called hash values.
The gubernatorial hopeful is urging additional online sites to join his initiative.
“Let’s make the Internet safe for children, let it be all upside and none of the downside,” Cuomo said.
