KIRKSVILLE, Missouri — The person whom many call the king of the pornography industry is coming to Kirksville in the spring for a debate at Truman State University.

Ron Jeremy, who was appeared in more than 1,000 adult films in his 40-plus year career, will face off against Rev. Craig Gross, the founder of the largest anti-porn web site titled XXXchurch.com Mar. 27 in Baldwin Auditorium.

The pastor from southern California developed the site after he noticed an increasing amount of people in his congregation struggling with pornography related problems.

The Student Activities Board announced the debate at a press conference Sunday and organizers are eager to see how the community responds to the controversial event.

“People are really excited about (the debate) and they think it’s going to be really interesting,” Organizer Ashley Rhodes said. “It will be interesting to see once word gets out to the mass publications, but I hear most people are intrigued.”

The board surveyed the campus last spring to see who the student body would like to hear in the 2009 debate, and this topic scored the highest.

At the end of the moderated debate, the audience will have the opportunity to offer their own comments in a question and answer portion of the event.

Due to the possible graphic content of the debate, organizers are hoping the community and students use discretion when deciding whether to attend the event.
