WWW- Pornography poses a special threat to the family. You can help fight the menace by attending a War against Pornography Training conference.
The force behind these conferences is Bobbie Burbridge Lane. She knew God was telling her to support traditional families, but the fight against porn was the last place she thought she’d start.
“Well, I no more intended to do (conferences on fighting) pornography than fly off the moon,” Lane said. “It just seemed so huge and ominous and I didn’t think God was directing me. Was I ever wrong.”
She has organized five of the conferences and has seen outraged community leaders and ordinary citizens organize boycotts and strengthen anti-porn laws.
“Believe me, it is making a difference,” she added. “We are thrilled with this, we are honored, and frankly, at 70-years-old I keep thinking the Lord has me mistaken for somebody else.”
Vickie Burress, a spokeswoman for Citizens for Community Values said parents need to make a special effort to attend.
“Anybody that fights against pornography is a hero in my book,” Burress said. “Ninety-five percent of our children today are being exposed to pornography, and in our surveys we’re finding that that age is 9-years-old.”
Conferences will be held in Manchester, N.H.; Sioux Falls, S.D.; Houston, Texas; Portland, Ore., and Little Rock, Ark., in the next two months. Sherri Zirker helps organize the events.
“The focus is on educating the community, the schools and so on to be helpers to the parents of their striving to protect their communities and their children,” Zirker said.
