This is one of those rare occasions where I’m absolutely in agreement with Mike South. And for exactly the same reasons.

South wrote an article for his Georgia Pine hillbilly site extolling Japanese porn. As someone who’s been feasting his Western eyes on Japanese imports the past couple of months, I have to conclude that Japanese AV [adult video] is light years beyond its American counterpart.

[Once I open this Pandora’s box I know I’ll be pissing off a few American studios which I’m only too happy to do.]

But, honestly, when you’ve been looking at porn as long as I have [over 50 years] and still come across material that’s genuinely heart pounding, there must be something to it. Right now my Astroglide budget is through the roof.

South calls Japanese porn both erotic and appealing. There’s no two ways about it. The doll-faced women are tantalizing, tattoo-free, they dress like hot, sexy babes should and keep way in character to sell the fantasy- more often than not a deft balancing act of innocence and mortification.

As I see it, the Japanese excel in four major genres: the hot teacher who’s sexually blackmailed; the office worker or secretary who’ll do anything under the stars to keep her job; the over-sexed MILF who seduces the young, innocent lad and the news broadcaster who’s sexually compromised either by terrorists or bukkake addicts.

The Japanese are also big on nurses outfits and massages. And let’s not forget the iconic schoolgirls with their uniforms, knee socks and loafers. [Check out Tarantino’s film Kill Bill Part 1].

So it’s not much different than American porn, in one respect, but Japanese AV is executed far better with an extremely palpable sexual tension always in view that keeps you hanging on the edge of your seat for the punch line. Simply put, the Japanese, like they did with transistor radios, took our ideas and made them a whole lot better.

Along the way I’ve come to appreciate the talents of female performers like Bunko Kanazawa [what a great, great name]; Junko Hayama [another great name]; Karen Kisagagi, Meisa Hanai, Kotone Amamiya, Junna Aoki, Kokomi Sakura, and, my favorite of the bunch, a performer who’s known simply as Kaori [pictured] who reminds you a little of a high society Tera Patrick.

Depending on the scene, Kaori wears her reddish brown hair in a French twist or down to her shoulders. You’ll generally see her wearing a white blouse, black skirt [or grey colored] and black pumps which seems to be the adopted uniform of most of the female performers.

Better yet, you won’t find anyone wearing combat boots or ghastly stripper heels and, worse yet, keeping them on for the entire length of the scene as you often see in American porn.

For tradition as much as anything else, Japanese girls also wind up bare foot and, overall, simply dress and carry themselves way better. Either that or their directors have the sense to instruct them as such.

Kaori, as stylish a woman as there is in adult entertainment, has wonderful legs and though Japanese females aren’t particularly noted for their asses, Kaori’s scenes feature an abundance of butt tease. Which becomes obvious why once you see her skirt hiked up.

Here’s another thing I love about Japanese porn. Most women start off wearing pantyhose [I hate pantyhose], and during the course of the scene the hose will be ripped off their asses in no time. Which I gather is some kind of Japanese anti-fetish sentiment, but Gene likes it.

For reasons I also can’t comprehend, American porn chooses to keep a woman, for the most part, semi-clothed in a sex coupling. Steve Hirsch and Christian Mann call it fantasy and reasons why condoms can’t be allowed. I call it no clue.

In Japanese erotica the prospects of a naked woman is the payoff to the sexual tension which is played throughout like a concert violin. [For the truly weird, the Japanese also offer piano teacher fantasies.]

There’s a lot more to be said on the subject, but I wanted to get my two cents in while the issue is hot. But if you want to know why the American porn market is being killed, this is one of the reasons.

P.S. I notice where South says he “plunked down” for a membership to a site that offers JAV downloads.
