Baldwin Gets Ally in Porn Fight

NYACK, N.Y. — The conservative Catholic Citizenship has joined actor Stephen Baldwin’s battle against the opening of a porn shop in Nyack, N.Y.

The born-again star of “The Usual Suspects” has been waging a crusade to try to stop the opening of the adult book store, which is currently under construction. He has gone as far as threatening to photograph patrons of the store once it opens and publish their pictures, The New York Daily News reported.

The Catholic Citizenship has filed suit with the New York Supreme Court in Rockland County, claiming the city planning board failed to consider the impact on the community when it approved the porn store’s application.

“I’m not directly involved in the petition, but it’s exactly what I’ve been arguing,” Baldwin, a 39-year-old father of two, told the News. “This store would bring the type of individual we do not want. Sex offenders will come to town, deviants will come to town.”

The store is being built 200 feet from an elementary school, he said.

Nyack village attorney Walter Sevastian told the newspaper the board followed all proper procedures in regard to the business.
