Town Of Tonawanda, NY ( WKBW ) The owners of Family Video in the Town of Tonawanda are happy about a judge ruling www.adultfyi.com/read.php?ID=41787 Friday that they can continue to rent pornographic videos. But parents and town officials are outraged about the decision.
Multimedia Watch The Video The Town of Tonawanda brought the case to court to ban the store from offering adult material. Friday, a judge ruled Family Video can continue to offer pornographic videos to customers. The judge says adult-use laws were vague on the issue.
Mark Davidson manages Family Video on Colvin Boulevard in the Town of Tonawanda. He says store owners are happy about the judge’s ruling and they will continue to rent X-rated videos to any customer 18 or older.
“We keep everything very discreet nothing is ever forced on anyone in anyway shape or form. If people choose or elect to rent adult materials we have no problem with that we’re not judging them just like we’re not judging the other family’s that come into our store,” said Mark Davidson who manages the store.
The adult video rentals are tucked away in a back room clearly marked with 18 and over only signs. But despite the discretion customers say the X-rated videos don’t belong in a store that caters to children.
there’s a time and a place for everything and this isn’t it and it’s ashame that this has got to be happening because there’s other places if people want to get those kind of movies they should go there,” said Lynn Kellner a customer at the store.
Owners say they added adult videos to their selection six months ago to cater to everyone.
“We’re servicing the needs of all the members of our community, all of the families in our community with the material that we carry in our store,” said Davidson.
Still others are outraged.
“No porn in a family video store. That’s how it should be, end of the line period. There shouldn’t be a law suit there shouldn’t be anything. They shouldn’t have had it in the first place,” said Steve McDonald a customer at the store.
The store has been open for three years at the Tonawanda location but they have about 600 other locations throughout the US. About 95 percent of those stores also carry adult material.
