Cleopatra of the Nile writes: There was an article published in AVN a while back about a certain director who has made 13 films for Anarchy Films and Python Pictures. These movies did quite well comparatively. However what was neglected to be mentioned was how much work I had put into those movies and how my creative changes to the editing and some of the introductions which is the reason for why those movies received the 4 stars that they did. I was the one who made movie number two happen at all and on time since the director was in jail!!!!
I recall not seeing one thank you in the article from the director nor any acknowledgement for my hard earned efforts to make those movies what they are with the very limited budgets we were working with. Had this director been working on them without me, his quality of photography would not have been sufficient for box cover material. Approx 6 or 7 of these box covers were my photos that I took. I in the end did mostly all the work.
Movie number 9 received 4 stars and was picked as movie of the month, most of the final editing was my work, but once again the director neglected to tell you that he waited until I was released from hospital to then turn around and have me edit this movie and put in all the special effects over 48 hours. NO SLEEP, yet I was the one just recently came out of hospital from tubes that were hanging out of my heart to do this to save our professionalism. That movie did the best!
I quit this madness after that and his work as a director, photographer and editor, gave him 2 stars on his next movie, then no one wanted to hire him elsewhere, which has nothing to do with me. therefore you can all do the math and realise his success as a director seriously had something to do with my involvement. The hard core content of these movies would not have happened and since the production companies were begging that the material compete with the rest of the movies in their categories, I had to become bad cop on the set so much that I didnt enjoy that but I will tell you, it was me, that gave those production companies the intensity they were looking for.
I do apologise to the talent if it made it harder to work with me but I had to produce what was required. The director on the other hand just wanted to play talent and I ended up doing more than what was required of me to get the job done. this happened for 3 of the movies we did. I did 75% to 80% of everything which is why you will see my names all over the credits in 4 or 5 categories. I am happy to say, it was a waste of time working with this director who did take credit for everything I did and sucked up the success that was partly mine, this serves as a lesson to all…watch out for the lazy people in this industry who are just waiting for a fireball as myself to make it all happen!
I am very much the reason for this director’s success, not all of it, just enough of it that I do believe I need to set the record straight for the inconsiderate behaviour of this perhaps somewhat director who may assume he is successful because of his own merits….everyone who knows the story, is very well aware it was because of me. Therefore I am taking what is rightfully mine, half the glory!!!!!
