Now that Devil’s Film is releasing Coctomom [street date 4/23], Steve Volponi’s asked if the company has suitably made a $1M offer to Octomom Nadya Suleman, or, at the very least, an offer of diapers or nannies.
According to Volponi, who handles sales for Devil’s, those offers can be best handled by other companies. But, as it is even without the Octomom payola, Volponi’s got a winner on his hands.
For one thing, the boxcover of Coctomom, www.devilsdistribution.com/coctomom featuring a full-lipped Vannah Sterling will have customers doing a complete double take because of the uncanny resemblance to the real thing.
Volponi first met Sterling in Vegas this past January.
“We were talking to her there- she’s a sweet girl, very cool, has her shit together, has a great attitude and can do a really good scene. We thought to ourselves we have to use this girl for something and this project came along.”
“We thought no one would be better to do this,” Volponi continues.
“And because we want to do something different all the time, Vannah was perfect for it. This is probably one of the most unique projects we’ve done.”
“She did such a great job- she studied Octomom’s mouth movements and expressions. It’s very funny. This parody stuff has taken off for a bunch of people and we figured we’d take a stab at it knowing that if we didn’t do it, someone would.”
According to Volponi, this is the first time that Devil’s will be supplying an O Card with one of their releases [the sleeve that goes over the DVD case].
“We also have the Blu Ray coming out plus a hard and soft version of the movie; a hard and soft version of the cover. We’ve also printed posters.”
Plus there are visual gimmicks within the movie itself that should make for a couple of chuckles including a sperm bank visual gag.
“We went on a hunt for test tubes,” laughs Volponi. “You can’t even get them.”
For regional sales support Volponi also had a web page built which provides distributors phone numbers.
“Everybody’s really jazzed about this- I think it’s going to be great and be a real big seller,” he says.
“My thing is if you’re going to do something you come out swinging. That’s what we did.”
Sterling’s supporting cast is: Country Pipes, Hooks, Jack Lawrence, Jack Vegas, Jenner, Mr. E, Seth Dickens, TJ Cummings, and Tone Capone
