LOS ANGELES — In an historic move, yesterday Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa signed into law a measure that will tie film permits issued in the City of Los Angeles to condom use in the production of adult films.
Last week, the Los Angeles City Council adopted the proposed ordinance, ‘City of Los Angeles Safer Sex In The Adult Film Industry Act,’ a ballot initiative that had qualified to be placed on the June 5, 2012 election ballot. AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) will host press teleconference today at 1:30 pm Pacific to respond to the news.
Among the next steps: City Council has directed the City Administrative Officer to form the Working Group. The group is to include: Personnel Department, the City Attorney, the Police Department, the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health, the California Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board, and other relevant stakeholders.
