from www.laweekly.com – An HIV/AIDS health-care organization that’s been on a tear against the porn industry for its lack of condom use will target Larry Flynt and his Hustler empire at a press conference outside his offices in Beverly Hills Thursday.
The AIDS Healthcare Foundation announced (NSFW language) it has added additional reports of “health hazards” allegedly found in Flynt’s porn films as part of its ongoing complaint against 16 California-based porn makers, including his Hustler Video, for allegedly unsafe workplace conditions.
And so AHF leaders will be outside the Larry Flynt Publications headquarters building at 8484 Wilshire Blvd. Thursday at 10:30 a.m. bringing attention to his porn. Frankly, he’ll probably bask in the renewed spotlight.
But it’s a serious issue. AHF claims that by not requiring condoms on-set, the porn makers are violating state law that prohibits the transmission of dangerous diseases.
The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health is considering a rule that would require condoms in porn, and AHF reports that Cal/OSHA has opened investigations into three porn producers based on its complaints.
” … Unprotected sex acts taking place in albeit non-traditional workplaces–porn sets located throughout the San Fernando Valley that are churning out billions of dollars of adult fare every day,” states Michael Weinstein, president of AIDS Healthcare Foundation.
“Larry Flynt has been quite vocal and outspoken in his opposition to condom use in his films. This is why we are filing additional workplace health and safety complaints with Cal/OSHA: to press for the enforcement of state workplace regulatory guidelines which would require the use of condoms in his–and all–adult films produced in California.”
AHF states that a stack of 100 Flynt-produced, condom-free videos will be presented at the conference.
