Porn Valley- It’s Tuesday morning on Rob Spallone’s set and Allie Ray’s cat ran away earler in the morning. Ray is heartbroken.
“I don’t even know what I’m doing here,” she says, acting kind of lost. Henri Pachard, looking better than he has in a long time in his battle with cancer, is talking to Seth Dickens about underwear. Seth’s doing a hairy girl scene with Laurie Vargas and Pachard doesn’t want it to be an advertisement for Calvin Klein. Seth who says he never seems to find underwear without a logo, finds as his career progresses a penchant for more and more hardcore.
Vargas, meanwhile, grabs my hand and rubs it against her ass. This woman is a regular Mexican hayride. Pachard’s wife, Dolores, wants Seth to cum all over Vargas’ bush. Even before the scene gets going, Seth’s Calvin’s are swollen to the breaking point.
I turn my attention to Desire Moore who’s minutes away from jumping into an all-girl orgy. Moore, 23, is from Mississippi. She moved out here about four years ago.
“I always wanted to be a stripper so I worked in a strip club,” she says. “One day I was out buying clothes and a freelance agent asked me if I wanted to do porn. I said, sure, but I have to go home and talk to my husband about it. He’s also in the business. He performs under the name Brad Hardy.”
Moore says they’ve been married almost five years and things are going good so far. Moore still has that Mississippi twang and I asked if she ever got to perform in some of those classic smokey dives on the delta.
“The area’s too small and my whole family lives there,” she explains. “When I go home, I don’t want them to see me.” Whether she told her parents what she does is insignificant because one of those creeps took it upon himself to send them e-mails with porn links.
“Someone I went to school with found something on the Internet and they posted it to my dad’s door. My brother’s wife was in the hospital at the time having a baby. It was one thing after another. He gave the pictures to my mom and my mom gave them to my aunt.
“I think my mom knew before my dad did but she never said anything,” says Moore. “That’s because my dad is sort of an asshole.”
Otherwise Moore says she tries to live drama-free in the business.
“I don’t like it but it seems to follow me,” she laughs. “I have bad luck anyways.” Then she gives me an example.
“I was driving my husband’s car the other day,” she relates. “It was my second time driving it, ever. My first time driving it at night, though. I was on my way to Venice Beach to do a shoot. And I got pulled over for not driving with headlights. I pulled the headlights out but apparently I didn’t pull them out all the way and was driving with the parking lights on.
“I was driving with a Mississippi license and I didn’t know that the law here was that if you have a California registered car you have to have a California license. So I couldn’t find the registration because it was my husband’s car. It was in the trunk of all places and they impounded the car. So we were without a car. It’s just one example.”
Moore’s one of the performers who works independent of an agency.
“Since I’ve been in the business I get my own work,” she notes and then lists at least four agencies she had been with at one time or another. She’s also working on two websites and mentions that she doesn’t do interracial scenes any more.
“And I only do cream pies with my husband,” she adds. “But I like to be fucked in my ass and do d.p.’s. And I love girls. I just don’t like to be smacked in my face. Especially if I ask someone not to do it and they do it any way. But girls I don’t care- they can smack me and throw me around, whatever.”
The first time Moore tried anal was before she got into the business.
“I was already to go with that by the time I got here,” she laughs. “It hurt at first. But, so, it hurt the first time I had normal sex. You keep doing it until you get used to it. I knew certain positions were worse than others so we kept trying positions until I found one that was easy to break in.”
Asked how she and her husband met, Moore explains that she grew up with his family.
“He has two younger brother and has a different mom than his brothers do,” she says. “And he’s 11 years older than me. I never met him. He was in the military when I was growing up with his two brothers, his mom and his dad. One day I met him at a restaurant I was working at. I went to his house and he was living with my ex-boyfiend. Come 4th of July, he was I want you to meet my family. So I went to his house and said this house looks familiar. I walked in and was, wow. I grew up with these people. They were my Sunday school teacher and my bible school teacher. It was weird, but…”
“So he was looking for another place to live,” Moore continues. “And my roommate just moved out so I asked him to move in. We were kind of seeing each other but we were just friends, sort of. When he moved in, we were having sex every day. We just made it offical. Then we got married. I had a little boy.”
Moore was the first to get into the business.
“At first he didn’t think I could do it,” she relates. “He was if you think you can do it, try, but I don’t think you can. I was physically? Mentally? Emotionally? Like what? I was, whatever, so I gave it a shot. I did it and he didn’t have a job or anything. He sat on the couch a lot and gained some weight. I kept saying you need to do something, get in the business, get off the couch. He was, alright. He got his body where he wanted it to and finally got into the business.”
“At the end of the day do you compare scenes?”
“No, we keep it separate,” she answers. We’ve got our ups and downs and separated for four or five months this past year. That was one of our rules- that whenever I came back from the set we’d keep work, work and keep our home. We don’t give too many details. We both know that we have fun on set and don’t need to express anything more. If he has a bad day, you can tell as soon as he walks through the door. No need to ask any questions.”
