PORTLAND – Detectives say the 18-year-old girl found dead in a Southwest Portland apartment died of strangulation.
Officials did not previously release the exact cause of death, only said Emily Egan died of homicidal violence.
They were apparently waiting for the grand jury to indict the man believed to be responsible for her death, 37-year-old Paul “Gene” Frizzelle. He was officially indicted for the murder Friday.
Egan’s body was found last week in the apartment she shared with Frizzelle. Her mother says Frizzelle and her daughter were romantically involved, but that Egan was going to leave the relationship. She also accuses Frizzelle for leading her young daughter into a life of drugs and pornography.
Frizzelle, who was covered in blood when he was arrested, had pleaded not guilty on the murder charge.
