WWW – While everyone is making a fuss over the grainy Internet video featuring a sexy Cameron Diaz, one of the other participants says it’s really no big deal.
Natasha Cotroneo, who can be seen in the video opposite Cameron, spoke out to a Toronto TV station. She says she can’t believe that the 12-year-old video has become a major controversy. Natasha says she and Cameron only got involved to have more stuff for their portfolios. “It’s just funny to me,” she said. “It wasn’t like that. No genitalia shown. No touching shown. It was the idea of S&M. That’s what it is. It wasn’t porn.”
The video was made by photographer John Rutter. He has been battling Diaz in court over the images that also included topless photos of the actress shot long before her rise to Hollywood stardom.
Rutter was charged last August with trying to extort more than $3 million from Diaz — a charge that was later dropped. But he still faces allegations that he forged her signature on the release.
That charge that could be bolstered by Natasha, who says she herself was never even given one to sign. “There were no releases signed at all,” she said. “And I know that’s what the whole lawsuit is based on. Our agents wouldn’t have allowed us to sign releases. They never allow us to sign releases without calling the agency and asking if that’s ok.”
How the Russian website obtained the video still isn’t clear. After all, a judged ordered it, and the pictures, to be placed in a safety deposit box until the dispute is settled.
Rutter denies that he had anything to do with its release and now says he’s willing to join forces with Cameron to block the website from releasing it. Right now, it’s probably making a killing, as computer users are being asked to plunk down $39.95 to watch it. Natasha says save your money: “I don’t know what the video looks like. I haven’t seen it. I don’t want to pay $39 for it.”
Gene sez: From what we’ve also heard Cotroneo, a bar manager also says the photos involved her, Diaz, and another woman named Kristen Zhang, along with the guy.
