Production and Previous Installments
The initial installment of "Rites of the Woods" was released on DirtyCinema on October 27, 2026, at 12:29 PM PDT. The feature is described as a "twisted narrative" involving a stepfather and stepdaughter. The storyline for episode one begins with Jason Sarcinelli and Raee Ripley arriving at an isolated cabin after a long drive. Following a tense conversation, they have an argument, leading Raee to flee into the woods.
While in the woods, Raee witnesses a "ritualistic dual killing," an event that impacts her. Jason, unaware of Raee's experiences, attempts to maintain normalcy, but Raee's behavior becomes increasingly unusual. The initial intention for their vacation was for Jason to connect with Raee and impart survival skills. However, the unfolding events suggest the focus may shift to Jason's own survival during their trip.
Peter King, identified as a site honcho, commented on the release of the first installment. King stated that playing an "ancient cult member" was enjoyable. He also noted Raee's lack of awareness regarding what awaited her in the woods. King added that Jason was already questioning his life choices after they "hook up."
Site Honcho Comments and Future Possibilities
Peter King, a site honcho, commented on the finale's release. He described the feature as "very subtle," which he stated makes it "even more frightening." King also commented on Raee Ripley's performance, stating that she "could easily become the queen of the psychological thriller," and that "just the way she holds her eyes is insane."
King also noted that the feature was "left it open to potentially having a sequel," indicating that "anything is possible."
