CARLISLE, Pa.—A former commissioner in central Pennsylvania’s Cumberland County faces electronic monitoring, fines and community service after being sentenced for hiring prostitutes and secretly taping men having sex in his home.
Bruce Barclay received five years of intermediate punishment, which is similar to probation, his lawyer Matt Gover said Thursday. He’ll spend the first nine months on electronic monitoring.
Barclay was convicted last month on charges of unlawful use of a computer, unlawful duplication, invasion of privacy and patronizing prostitutes.
Gover says Barclay apologized in court and is eager to put the matter behind him.
The 51-year-old Barclay resigned from office in April 2008 after a man who later recanted told police Barclay had raped him.
