from www.securitynewsdaily.com – If Rihanna and Hayden Panettiere filmed a sex tape, and you just happened to come across it on Facebook, what would you do?
Facebook scammers think they know the answer, and in their latest campaign to capture the attention — and the money — of gullible Facebook fans, they’re advertising a homemade lesbian sex tape featuring the two celebrity starlets.
Spotted by the security firm Sophos, the enticing wall posts read, “Hot Lesbian Video — Rihanna and Hayden Panettiere!!” The message claims the video is stolen from Rihanna’s “home archive,” and includes a link where users can supposedly download the footage.
But, as with all Facebook scams, there is no video. Instead, clicking the link takes users to a page that attempts to infect them with the now-notorious MacDefender malware, a Mac-specific Trojan that has been stirring up trouble for nearly a month by trying to convince Mac users to pay for antivirus software they don’t need.
Just this week, Facebook scammers used a fake video of shamed former IMF leader Dominique Strauss-Kahn to help spread the same malware.
As always, never click on unsolicited or suspicious Facebook videos. If a pop-up Web page claiming to be an Apple security update or anti-virus warning prompts you to download any attachments, ignore it and close your Web browser.
