Porn Valley- The Ron Sullivan story took a different twist today. Deloras Sullivan and I were tentatively scheduled to be on Playboy Radio Wednesday afternoon at 5pm to talk about the We Are The World Shoot which was designed to financially aid her husband, but has now become a disaster in the making.
However, this afternoon Sullivan had to take her husband to the hospital, telling me he was in great pain. So Sullivan didn’t feel she could under the circumstances do an interview and so she asked me to speak on her behalf. Coincidentally, I then got a call from one of the producers- Terri-who told me the spot was now being cancelled.
I asked why. I was told I didn’t “have a relationship with the content of our show which is, we’re basically a sex show.”
I found this a bit amusing because I’ve only been writing about the porn industry for 22 years, but I suppose that isn’t enough of a qualification.
“And so I’m not able to have you,” says Terri. “According to my executive producer you don’t have anything to do with sex.”
I asked who the executive producer was and was told it was Farrell Hirsch who made the decision. The same Farrell Hirsch who’s referred to by Christy Canyon on air as “Farrellina” for reasons I can only take a guess at.
Any relation to Steve Hirsch whose company Vivid Video is in the middle of this Sullivan quagmire? I don’t know.
Bill Margold’s name was also mentioned in the explanation which seemed to me a bit superficial at best. I asked if Margold wasn’t a regular guest on Playboy.
“He will no longer be a regular guest,” I was told.
“Wasn’t he on there weekly?” I asked.
“He was supposed to be,” was the answer.
