TAMPA — Jurors learned for the first time today just how much pornography they had left to watch during the obscenity trial of a Hollywood filmmaker.
U.S. District Judge Susan C. Bucklew [pictured] told attorneys that she decided to inform jurors they’d view the final two of five DVDs being used in a trial against Paul F. Little of Altadena, Calif., and his company, MaxWorld Entertainment Inc.
“We are going to spend pretty much most of the day watching videos,” Bucklew told jurors.
A male juror sent the judge a note last week asking if shorter pornographic scenes could be shown instead of the full DVDs. Bucklew agreed to allow prosecutors and defense attorneys to show as much or as little of the films as they deemed necessary at trial.
The judge never responded to the juror’s inquiry. Outside of the jury’s presence, defense attorneys said they intended to show all of the films after prosecutors said they would only play a sampling.
Little, who stars in his films as Max Hardcore, portrays graphic humiliation toward women that includes urination. Females vomit, sometimes on each other, in the films.
Little and MaxWorld are charged with five counts of using a computer server to sell obscene matter and five counts of delivering obscene matter through the U.S. mail. Little’s Max Hardcore Web site was housed on servers in Tampa for about three years.
Jurors began the day watching a Max Hardcore DVD titled Fists of Fury 4, which will be followed by Pure Max 19.
Defense attorneys are expected to call their first witness this afternoon.
