In the immortal words of Cameron Diaz, don’t take videos; don’t take photos. Firefighters in Sacramento are now learning the truth of that advice.
Sacramento- Witnesses and photographs now support allegations that a group of on-duty Sacramento City firefighters spent hours at a racy costume ball Friday night.
A woman who attended the Porn Star Costume Ball showed photographs taken at the event to News10. One shows two men in Sacramento Fire Department uniforms. “They were dressed up as firefighters, and I took the picture,” said the woman, who did not want to be identified. “Then after a while I realized, no, they’re real firefighters. But I was like, ‘What are they doing here?'”
The Sacramento Fire Department and Sacramento Police Department have launched investigations to find out why seven firefighters from Station 20 went to the event at the Radisson Hotel Friday night. One of the firefighters is accused of sexually assaulting a woman who was attending the ball. The others are under investigation for misconduct.
A fire department spokesman confirmed the two firefighters in the photograph are on administrative leave.
Along with her friends, the woman interviewed by News10 first arrived at the party at around 10 p.m. She said that when she got there, two fire trucks were already parked out front. She stayed until about 2 a.m. Saturday, and said at least some of the firefighters did too. She told a News10 reporter she noticed some of the firefighters came and went during the time she was there.
Investigators are looking at the possiblity that a false alarm was triggered, allegedly to provide an excuse for firefighters to go to the Radisson and check out the ball. While firefighters were there, officials suspect a legitimate call was received and firefighters from Statio 20 said they couldn’t respond. Another company was sent instead, and a response that should have taken four or five minutes instead took almost 12 minutes.
