LOS ANGELES — Motorola and SWINDLE Magazine announce the formation of the Motorola SWINDLE ICONS program to coincide with SWINDLE’s first ever ICONS issue (October 2006). The events will take place in New York and Los Angeles and will feature intimate sit down dinners amongst the notable personalities included in the upcoming SWINDLE ICONS issue. The SWINDLE ICONS issue is dedicated to 50 luminaries who have shaped history and culture in unique ways. The issue includes such disparate luminaries as Bobby Seale, Chuck D, Hulk Hogan, Larry Flynt, Elvira, Slash, Tyra Banks, Judy Blume, R. Crumb, Alan Dershowitz and many others. The New York and Los Angeles ICONS events will create a salon like atmosphere encouraging conversation and the sharing of ideas amongst the SWINDLE “Icons”.
“We were immediately interested in the SWINDLE ICONS issue as its focus was on singularity of vision and historical importance values that mean a great deal to Motorola. We have worked closely with SWINDLE to bring the ICONS issue to life through the creation of two incredible evenings which focus on the “Icons” and create unique and enjoyable events and doesn’t solely concentrate on their being a red carpet and paparazzi. An invitation to one of these events is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” said Motorola’s Elizabeth Dowling. “The common denominator for choosing an “Icon” for the issue was to find those who are singular in their pursuit or their accomplishments. We weren’t looking for the most famous or the most successful but those who are without peer. We feel that we have found 50 such individuals and we are honored to have them grace our magazine and we look forward to the unique events which will bring such disparate talents and personalities under one roof,” said Editor-In-Chief Roger Gastman. The events are scheduled for October 2006 in New York and Los Angeles.
