Houston- A Houston native and adult film actor accused of sexually assaulting a Washington State University student last week surrendered to police Wednesday, two days after an arrest warrant was issued.
Christopher Jack Reid, 25, [aka Jack Venice] was charged Monday with raping the female student Sept. 13 during a break-in at a sorority house on the campus, located near Pullman, Wash.
Police had been working with Reid’s lawyer since Tuesday to arrange the surrender, which happened about 4 p.m. at a motel parking lot, authorities said.
“He is declining to make any statements,” said Pullman police Sgt. Dan Dornes.
Reid was living in the Los Angeles area but grew up in Houston. His mother, Deborah Reid, said she doesn’t believe the allegations.
“He is not an awful person,” she said. “This is not something that he would do.”
Reid said her son attended Cypress Springs High School and enlisted in the Marines soon after graduation in 2000. He spent four years in uniform and saw combat in Iraq, she said.
“I’m devastated. I’m very concerned,” she said. “He’s never been in this kind of trouble before.”
Reid said her son never concealed his plan to work in the adult film industry after leaving the military.
“I wasn’t happy at first by the choice that he made, but I wanted to have an open relationship with my son,” she said. “There could have been a lot of things he could have gotten into. At least it’s legal.”
He has appeared in more than 80 sexually-oriented films under the name Jack Venice, according to the Internet Movie Database.
Reid also has made amateur videos, which can be seen on Internet sites like Youtube, where he solicits women for sex.
In one of the films, Reid asks a woman walking down the street if she will be in his movie.
“Oh no. I’ll pass on that one,” the unidentified woman said before turning away.
Police said it wasn’t clear if Reid came to the Washington State University campus to make other amateur sex films.
“We don’t know exactly why he was here that night,” Dornes said. “He is not a student or a Pullman resident.”
According to court documents, Reid and another man, identified as Kyle Schott, 23, forced their way into at least three sorority houses that night.
The only report of a sexual assault, police said, occurred during the break-in at the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
“That was likely the last one of the bunch,” Dornes said.
The victim, identified only as K.N.E., later told police she may have been awakened by the sound of a condom wrapper being torn open. She then saw two men using a fire escape to flee from the bedroom, according to court records.
Police arrested Schott the next day after a witness from one of the other break-ins identified him from a line-up. Schott admitted being in the room when the student was assaulted.
Schott is free on $100,000 bond after being charged with rape and the sorority house break-ins, police said. In addition to rape, Reid also faces three burglary charges. Bail is set at $200,000.
Deborah Reid said she spoke with her son before he surrendered to police.
“He told me that he didn’t do that,” she said. “He makes a living as a porn star. He gets paid to do this with people that are in the industry.”
