from www.abc.net.au – A police sting in Papua New Guinea has nabbed a man who allegedly tried to extort money and sex from a prominent media identity.
Police arrested a 23-year-old man in a Port Moresby shopping centre on Saturday and allegedly found a pornographic movie on his mobile phone.
They say he had arranged to meet former Miss PNG and EMTV newsreader Antonia Singut [pictured] after calling her to accuse her of starring in the movie, and to demand sex and money to keep it quiet.
But Ms Singut alerted police and plain-clothed officers were waiting to arrest him.
He has been charged with possessing pornography and it is likely he will be charged with extortion.
Ms Singut told the National newspaper several people have been trying to defame her with pornography allegations.
Police say the movie was produced overseas and the performers are foreigners.
