[www.novinite.com]- This is probably one of the more intelligent interviews do be done with someone from the porn business in awhile. The interview was conducted with French porn producer Pierre Woodman during the Eros Show 2009, Sofia, March 25-28, 2009
Q: Is the atmosphere at this erotic show here in Sofia any different from that at similar events elsewhere?
A: For me most of the shows are all the same. Except in France. Because, unfortunately, we have a large community of immigrants who create a lot of trouble every time, and may even scare people off from going to the show. Just three weeks ago I was in a city where 20 guys came in at a similar show, and destroyed one stand, and spanked the girl there. This is something that I can’t understand, and its only in my country that these kinds of crazy things happen. But worldwide I have never seen any trouble in any place, even in Russia. It’s always cool – in Prague, in Las Vegas, I was in Japan, I did a very big fair in Australia with 80 000 people. I am used to being in this kind of place. And the Sofia public is very, very correct, respectful, lots of couples come here, too, and it’s nice.
Q: Have you ever worked with someone from Bulgaria?
A: I have never worked in Bulgaria, because, first of all, the law bans making porn here. And I am too old now to take the risk. In the past, I have made movies in Islamic countries, risking my life. Now I am too old for this. I am the boss of a company. I have better things to do than to go to jail, you know, and it’s too late for me to do crazy things. But I hope the law will change, and I then would be very upbeat to shoot in the mountains here because it’s so beautiful.
I love Sofia. I think that in 15-20 years will be the best city in Europe because the fact that it has this big, big mountain with the snow, and the sea, which is not far, gives this capital one specific configuration where you have both the snow and the sea. I love it very much, and I’m sure with this climate, and the mind of the people, because Bulgarians are very nice, that will be a great city to live in, I am sure.
Q: Some of the most famous pornstars come from Hungary, the Czech Republic, Romania, from all across Eastern Europe. How come there are no famous Bulgarian pornstars?
A: Because here I think people are late in terms of mentality because of the past, the history, the government, and the regime. There is too much pressure. I see that when I speak with the girls here, they are scared, they are very shy, the boys are very, very conservative, and place a lot of pressure on the girls. This mentality will change step by step but at the moment we are definitely not in a situation where the people have an open mind about this.
Sex is still a little taboo here, and of course, this is very sad because many people can’t understand that the first freedom is the sexual freedom. Only when you have freedom in sex, you can say you are really free. Here girls become a toy for boys. Both have no education in sex but girls think boys will explain sex to them. But in reality, boys don’t know anything more than them. So in fact there is no education, the sex is not good, but they believe this is what it should be. So the minute you open the door, and you have people like me coming in the country, and are able to speak with them, it changes, but it takes time, and it will take time.
Q: What do you say to people who think porn is immoral?
A: I think these people are very stupid. I had exactly this problem a few weeks ago in France. I was on this TV show. One of our ministers was also invited, and this guy said he was very sad to be sitting next to me. I asked him whether he was not sad every Wednesday morning to be sitting down near the Minister of the Defense who sells weapons that kill children all over the world. And everybody applauded me. Where is immorality in sex? Sex is the most natural thing in the world. This is what everyone should be doing at night, and this is only one way to escape the problems, when you make love, and there is nothing wrong with that.
The church, the religion have invented that sex is something immoral. This are a lot of immoral things like the governments who say you have to be very sorry, you have to use condoms, you have to do this and that. They are always ready to give you the wrong information or just part of the information. They tell people, “use condoms if you want to be protected, be faithful, do this, do that.” Don’t forget that not long ago they let people use blood transfusion without any control, and this lead to many deaths.
Today everyone makes a big deal about what Pope Benedict XVI said, you know, that condoms help to get AIDS. In fact, what he said is not so stupid. Why? Because no one in the world has the balls to tell people the truth about getting AIDS and protection. Well, of course, in religion you cant do blowjobs, so in terms of religion what the Pope said was stupid. But in terms of pure sexuality – he said condoms help spread AIDS, and in a way this is true. Because the governments all over the world push people to use condoms by telling them, “Use condoms, and you will be protected”.
But no one has the balls to say that every time you get a deep throat blowjob this is the same as having unprotected sex, sex without a condom. Because no one uses condoms for blowjobs. Because no one tells people they should use a condom for every part of their sexual experience. They just tell them, “Use a condom”. Thus, the teenagers beginning their sexual life figure that they can get any blowjob with any girl without any danger which is not true. So when they say that they in fact help spread AIDS. This is terrible. And nobody in the government of any country on the planet has the balls to say that. So what the Pope said was not so stupid after all.
Q: So what is the best way to be protected then?
A: There is something very important I would like to say. Especially for a country like yours where the standard of living is rising. The good thing here is that you still have a life which is not so expensive, you still have a lot of positive things, I hope you won’t come to destroy all this too quickly. The message I would like to give to the people is the following. Young boys, young girls, please stop thinking that the condom is the solution for everything.
If two people love each other, and they want to be together, they want to have sex together, they should go a to a lab and make full blood tests, and full gynecologic tests, and then, from that moment on, make love together and be faithful. This is the most secure and the best way to have sex.
Because today we have the “cellophane generation”. I call it that that because I have found that the sexuality of the young people has changed because of the condom. The condom has destroyed the mentality of the youngsters. Boys who had problems before with having sex without a condom, now because of the widespread use of the condom they have even greater problems in their minds. So they try Viagra and all these stupid things to have erection and even take drugs, or the girls would drink alcohol because they think the boy didn’t care about them.
All this destroys the youngsters’ mentality and we can feel now that sex has changed in the minds of the people. That’s why, many of the boys sometimes prefer to masturbate with a porno movie than to have sex with a girlfriend, and even though I am a person who makes porn, I am very sad about this situation, and I feel the right message is to tell people to make blood tests. That is the best way to be protected.
Q: How is the global financial and economic crisis affecting your business?
A: The crisis does not affect us but piracy does. The crisis does not affect sex. We can even say that it would be better because people are a little sad now, and sex is the only way to escape the problems, so people are very concentrated on sex, as always. This makes no difference. The big difference is that the DVD market has almost disappeared because of the piracy and because everything is free on the Internet, and of course step by step we lose our customers.
I mean, we still have them but they use piracy products. And this is a huge problem for us but we have no protection because now they tried to make anti-piracy laws but all of those are destined to the companies from Hollywood, and of course we are something different, and no one cares if somebody stole the property of a porn company. So we are not protected, and this is a huge problem. Eventually, the main problem would be for the customer because now almost 50% of the porn companies have disappeared in the recent years, and if this continues, I might also give up this business, and soon the customer will have only the photos of their grand mother to masturbate on.
